Apparently there are some awards that the Nokia N9 has been winning. If you don’t understand Swedish, thankfully you won’t have to rely on the piece of crap that is google translate.

Thaijoni who sends this tip in also included @klasstrom’s tweet that said,

“Nokia N9 wins: best design…. Best camera… And…. Best mobile of the year 2011 in Swedish Mobile Awards”

That’s pretty awesome going! Well done, Nokia N9!

  1. N9 says:

We all know there is no future for meego,(the n9 was not heven meego but rather meego API compatible) but I do hope they do not throw everything to the trash bin and can create on top of it.

Its probably one of the best things NOKIA ever did…

  2. Mendax says:

Speaking of which, is anyone surprised at how poorly the N9 performed in GSM Arena’s 8MP shootout?

To be honest, I have noticed that the images (especially under indoor lighting) look a little subpar from my own N9.

Someone please tell me that this can be fixed with a software update to the photo processing algorithm. What would Damian Dinning say now?

    • SLAYER says:

lol why are you asking for a fix if you say the pictures were subpar compared to your N9 :p

    • aboodesta says:

It didn’t perform poorly. It just wasn’t the best. It did perform poorly in HD videos though, and I think its because of the hardware of the device unfortunately… Why else would the fps be dropping to 24fps when theres a lot of details to be processed, while the N8 manages just fine?

    • jonnyjl says:

I think the N9 has some white-balance issues. I’m hoping that’s a software fix, I would imagine it could be

I never expected the N9 to be at an N8 level…

But considering the other stuff this year, I can appreciate it winning the category.

I completely agree with it winning the other categories! Best Mobile of the Year!

  3. SLAYER says:

    well deserved

  4. GordonH says:

I think this sentence sums up the situation:
Everything good on the N9 will be used (or killed) for Wp7 to succeed.

  5. Jonjo says:

Slayer. I think Mandrax means he has noticed that his own N9 has sub-par low light performance. Not that the GSM arena shots were worse than his.

    • Mendax says:

Indeed. I never said “compared to”.

I’ve read on GSM Arena that camera performance will, in fact, improve after Nokia delivers the promised updates.

The hardware limitation (re: FPS drop) makes sense, but I really do hope they optimize the software. After all, 1GHz isn’t peanuts and the N9 isn’t handling 1080p video.

  6. Gen says:

camera focus seems to be the problem for the n9

  7. Boyang says:

Congratulations to the N9 team! Wonderful job!

  8. high says:

the iphone 4s swipes the floor with the n9 in terms of camera. Check gsmarena.com

  9. BellGo says:

Good.. And seriously…give me one logical reason for Nokia discontinuing MeeGo.

  10. gabriel9 says:

Congratulations to makers of N9, they deserve this revard. Also i just get my N9 and it’s great. Best phone i ever had.

  11. Shmerl says:

Tell us now that Nokia management didn’t loose their minds (or may be just sold their souls to MS?).

    • Ash says:

Well, you know when you sell your soul to MSatan there’s hardly any redemption success stories to come out of it. I just hope for Nokia’s future, that they at least incorporate the Swipe ui into their very own OS(Maemo?). It’s not too late for them if they do somethign about it now.

  12. R Green says:

N9 gets beaten by iPhone in GSM Arena camera test! WTF?!

    Wake up Nokia!

  13. BarryB says:

Its not impossible the iPhone optics / software is better, Apple aren’t just going to be sitting on their hands as others progress.

The N9 is more than just a camera phone though, unfortunately my one is being returned to Expansys due to a faulty USB door. Not happy about the level of service from them so far though :(

  14. hosny santos says:

please guys is party time, rocks n9, salut ,tim tim, and stop critics, in this moment, i hope nokia learn with this and keep on maemo way (plan b, remenber) if WP does´nt sale wihtout an miracle

  15. Cod3rror says:

    [sarcasm]

a Swedish award? there’s no credibility in that. Of course a European would pat themselves on the back.

I’ll wait until IDEA rates this phone

    [/sarcasm]

  17. RAS says:

GSM Arena shows the iPhone 4s camera basically kicking the crap out of the N9 camera.
