Nokia sells media advertising business

Back in 2007, Nokia acquired Enpocket, a Media Advertising Business. This made sense with Nokia’s efforts on this new thing called Ovi and the blanket of internet services that could become a great source of revenue for Nokia. We all know what happened to Ovi services, one by one got shut down due to not meeting what it needed to do (Except perhaps, Maps and the Store).

The Reuters article says to focus on the core business, Matchbin (later named Radiate Media) acquired Nokia’s media advertising business. How was the media advertising business performing? Why are they selling it? Doing a search finds that Matchbin/Radiate Media already bought a NAVTEQ ad group last year, Nov 1.

I’m not sure what other sources of mobile advertising Nokia would have, but we do know it’s getting ad revenue sharing from Microsoft.
