Nokia Beta Labs Client for Symbian! Make trying Beta Labs apps easier!

| February 2, 2012 | 8 Replies

Here’s a new project from the Nokia developers page, it’s a Nokia Beta Labs app, a nice little client to get all your Beta Labs goodies.

This has been tested on the Nokia 701, C7, E7 and N8 so far.

There are two versions of the app available, the Qt Quick one lacking the homescreen widget.

The  Nokia Beta Labs Client.

Two different versions of this application are hosted in this project, Symbian WRT version and Qt Quick version.

The web widgets version demonstrates how to use the  Guarana UI library components in the user interface. In addition, the application demonstrates how to enable dynamic scaling to different orientations by changing the style sheets (CSS) on the fly. The application is compatible with Symbian^3 and Symbian S60 5th Edition devices and it has been optimized for the touch UI. The updated version adds tabs and a home screen widget.

The Qt Quick version demonstrates how to use  Qt Quick Components. Note that the Qt Quick application does not contain a home screen widget.

For more information about the application, please see the wiki. For information about porting the WRT version to Qt Quick, see PortingConsiderations.

It’s not very good at this moment, good idea though.

Tried this about 5 months back. Loved the concept of it, however I think it should have looked a lot more like the Nokia Store. The biggest let down is its poor appearance.

looks like the new Nokia store ….which might become of the norm in a few months

    Once again Maemo6x/N9xx is forgotten
