Video: The Verge Interview with Damian (The Awesome) Dinning. More PureView devices to come! (808 Curved screen edge?)
Vlad talks with Damian (The Awesome) Dinning, Nokia’s Imaging Guru who expects nothing less than the best from Nokia’s camera. Today, the culmination of 5 years of work was announced – the Nokia 808 PureView.
Far more detail than any other phone. And more PureView to come.
Fingers crossed for Nokia Pics sells 😀

Just look at that ginormous sensor.
Also check out that curved screen edge.  In mock ups, it looked like it has a crazy raised bezel like the Nokia 5800. dsmobile said the edges curved.  I might be wrong.
Damian confirms more PureView devices are expected.
“Uh huh!”
PureView Lumia? PureView Harmattan 😛
“You’ll see this technology in other ways at some form in our portfolio in the future. Will it be the same sensor? Damian says he can’t reveal specific details.”
Vlad says he feels the sensor is a huge part of PureView. Damian says,
“sure – we wouldn’t develop this for 5 years for a single one off offering” 😀
Oh if only we saw more N8 cams in other phones during 2011.
The development tracks were apparently different for N8 and PureView – N8 was amazingly, in a different line. i.e. PureView is completely a whole new breed.
Nokia will be exploring a number of different directions in the area of imaging – sensor, processing and optical capabilities in different ways in different parts of the portfolio.
Hmm, I just want this same camera module and processing in more Nokia’s. The only way I can accept a different one is if Nokia betters it.
