Arrived in Finland – Nokia House tomorrow!
Hey folks, just a little update that I’m now actually in Finland
I’ve updated some of the question requests in this post, but since there have been more I will update this again tonight. It’s 2:30PM or so GMT, but 4:30PM in Finland. I’m not sure what time shops close here but I’m going to quickly head out to get some food.

I’m going to organize the questions submitted into groups/categories and post them back up here. Hopefully I will still have internet. There is free WiFi in the hotel, but I swear it said 1mb/day limit.
I had an interesting chat with the Taxi driver about Finland and Nokia in general. He has a N8 as one of his phones, and although he has been experiencing some problems with it, he says it’s the best when Finland gets super cold and other touch phones stop working. The Taxi firm I was with is a major one and is one that has picked up key folks at Nokia, though Beki( taxi driver) says he can’t disclose who.
The weather here is quite lovely. It’s sunny and rather warm. Much too warm to have worn two layers and a coat in anticipation. I’ve only encountered about 6 locals so far but they’re all really friendly. Anyway, I best dash. I’ll get some food, catch up on some news and then head back out to see what’s around this area

Welcome Jay, I’ll hope you enjoy your stay here in Finland.
Looks like you had very good luck with the weather, as there shouldn’t be any rain and the sun is supposed to shine while you’re in Helsinki.
Most grocery stores in Finland are open until 9 pm or 11 pm.
Mostly all shops(including Nokia flagshisp shop at Aleksanterinkatu, if your hotel is near and you like to visit “Nokia only” shop(+vertu)) are open to 9pm.
Thanks, I will have another look later. Just as a quick recharge, I went with McDonalds (although I did pick the ones I’ve never encountered before)
Watch out, the city will be full of Metallica fans tonight
Doesn’t McDonald have free wifi in finland?
yup
i think they all do (worldwide) no?
Welcome to Finland! =)
Is it really £10 for a beer?
Depends on the bar/pub in question
more along the lines of 3,5-5€, usually.
If you go to Kallio district you can get one for 2e
I live in Kallio district. Places where you get 2€ (actually 2,50 is cheapest) beer are places you propably dont want to go unless theres a chance sit outside. Propably best not to shock our foreign guest with the people who sit in those pubs which sell 2€ beer
Have a nice trip and don’t forget to ask Nokia people how Nokia is reacting to current situations(what exactly Nokia is doing or planning to change things around)
Good question. WIll add.
should broaden it a bit and see how the employees/ex-employees/citizens are dealing with Nokia leaving Finland or at least moving the majority of operations out
do the locals notice a change or is it really just employees (former)
Welcome to Finland and Nokia House tomorrow. Remember to check out the view from upper level corridors.
Aaha!
I am really happy and excited for u bro
please record some videos(actually a lot) and take as many photos as u can , of every place of nokia house.
Please ask a question for me, will be there be more symbian devices launched in future or only software updates?
Plz bro plz. . . .
Could you ask what type of future disruptions do Nokia have in store ala N9 successor or maybe Nokia’s original version of Project Glass etc?
+1
I would like to know about the future disruptions also.
Thank you! Can’t wait to hear
Welcome to Finland! Check out the Nokia promo shop on the first floor of Nokia House, close to reception. The weather is quite cold now but they promised it to get warmer every day.
