Video: WP’s 100K apps video promo (with erroneous video calling on Lumia 800)
A couple or so weeks ago, Michael posted news that Marketplace reached 100,000 apps. It was rumoured a long while back that when 100K is reached, that’s around when WP8 will be announced.
Here’s MS video for that 100,000 apps.
Note that they’re using a Nokia Lumia 800 but somehow manage to do face to face video calling. Also, where’s the Nokia logo gone :/
Category: Nokia, Windows Phone

Well, I can see Nokia logo quite well…
On the first image? I can see it on the second one but not in the first (where it should be clearest)
well yes, i meant in the video… But i think microsoft will start using Lumia 800/900 sillhuete as their own WP 8 branding device or something…
but offcourse, that doesn’t mean that they should remove the Nokia branding…
i think they changed the phone into the lumia 900 at the ending
Video editing fail… By size I think it’s a Lumia 800, not a 900
I have to post this comment here. I copied this from a comment in GSMArena from a “N0kian” but I really want to post this here because it made me cry while reading it.
Let the waterworks begin! (tears of joy, I mean)
“What people failed to understand was that every flagship that Nokia outed after January 2011 was a transitional product… They were not there to compete with the top smartphones, they were there to collect the trends, needs and mindset of the consumers…
1. The first step was N9 with a breath taking design. Once it was launched Nokia knew that they have hit it right with the design. Moreover, they also gained the info regarding peoples’ behavior towards simplicity.
2. Once hardware was right on the money, they changed the software with the one they were willing to go with. There were many criticisms and few approving nods. But they kept their head down and released the advanced version of it.
3. Nokia Lumia 900: That was one of the most crucial steps that had to be taken with utmost care and consumer friendliness. The introduction of the product. That’s why they sold it at a very aggressive pricing. How it was taken by the consumers? We all know. Wasn’t a very warm reception but caused a few stirs.
4. Now it was time to bring in the Nokia factor. An extra ordinary surprise and innovation that will blow everyone away. And Nokia 808 PureView surfaced. What did it do? It made many heads to turn towards Nokia again. “Throw that at Lumia and I am sold.” We saw thousands of comments like this. And that was exactly what Nokia was cooking.
That’s the way companies with vision work. They don’t join the mad race of making money while they could have done so with ease and the art they bring into the industry. They keep their heads down, go thru a transition, listen to criticism and then come up with something that stands out of the crowd.
Maybe Nokia was not as dumb as we thought it to be. Maybe Elop was not wrong with his “unpopular” moves and explanations. Time will tell!
Waiting for a water proof sturdy device molded into one of the best designs ever, powered by Windows Phone 8 boasting a multi core processor with HD Clear Black floating display and bragging a PureView camera with Rich recording technology!”
Goosebumps galore!
Well, since this is not your comment, I’ll rather respond directly to Nokian:
N0kian, you’re our fellow commenter and we love you very much. But you’re living in a world of make-believe. With flowers and bells and leprechauns, and magic frogs with funny little hats.
Well, I’m sure glad that Mr. know-it-all-incognito set those moonbats straight.
May I ask what position you hold in the NLT?
HMMM.. lets see what happens if all is true..
its just a matter of time: whether nokia is going steadily but surely at their “super-plan”, or just— screw you elop!
I would cry also but it has made more to laugh, with empty laugh.
There is sayings: “a drunked baby in the deep fog” – fits to general overall composition of quotation.
I would add that perhaps the Nokia standing is not so critical as they say, but this is only because they don’t recognise the true infinite wisdom of mr Elop. Time will tell. The only question is: will this happen in our generation or in 500 years? As for certain it will not be clear now, whenever, but not now. The “now” does not count at all.
Ok guys.
Basta ako, I’m so excited about this and I only have well wishes for Nokia.
Well, WP7.x owners better enjoy those 100,000 apps, because that’s all their likely to see, ever, while waiting out the remainder of their two year, or in Canada’s case, three year, carrier contracts.
