AAS’ Ewan Spence, and also of Forbes writes

“Finland’s Jolla Will Be The Ferrari Of The Smartphone World”

Precisely in what context will it be Ferarri? A highly desirable aspirational brand? Maybe.

Ewan writes that the smartphone market is focused on volume. Ferrari ‘only’ sell about 10,000 cars (though very expensive) and is still a success.

As Ferrari show, it’s not always about volume, it’s about having something desirable and relatively unique. If your product brings in more money than it costs, and you can develop the next models with that surplus, then you have a sustainable business.

Ewan believes that Jolla could be the leading ’boutique’ smartphone manufacturers in 2013. Instead of going for volume, Jolla can target high end that demands a high price. (Imagine the no longer Nokia-owned Vertu decides to partner with Jolla :p. I think that might put it out of too many people’s pockets).

Cheers outdated os for the tip!
