Nokia 808 PureView viral ad could cost Nokia a R$6.5 Million fine?

| July 26, 2012 | 19 Replies

So, Nokia in Brazil took the time to advertise the Nokia 808 PureView. Yay! 808 needs (more) quality, effective advertising.

But this effort could be all for nothing, and even be detrimental as Nokia could be facing a R$6.5 Million fine (equivalent to just about 3.2M USD). This is because Nokia had apparently created a viral video campaign without letting viewers know this was an advert.

Not sure what the premise of the actual ad was. I don’t particularly understand what’s going on in the video below. I hear ‘Finland’ mentioned at 00:11

Update:  Rodrigo informs that it is not ‘Finland’ but ‘Fernanda’

Marcos also gives an explanation to the video:

Here’s the dramatic conclusion to this story. Even if you don’t know portuguese, you can understand. Daniel keeps searching for the love of his life, Fernanda, and then some guy sends him a video where you can see that the zoom in the 808 pureview is so powerful it actually shows Fernanda phone number in the back. Awesome action, massive repercussion in Brasil! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aA31u-nCMq0

I took my pureview out last night to a weekly summer bash in my local town to get some low light pics, and i have to say, the camera sufferes so badly from glare, i couldn’t get a shot without any annoying orbs or glare from the glass covering the lens. No matter how hard i tried, the glare was always i the middle of the picture, sometimes a ‘plasma’ like object would appear too. I was so pissed off, i just went home. :/

    is ‘Fernanda’ not ‘Finland’

I’m from Brazil and will try to explain the Nokia viral Advert. In a cut story this guy had met the woman of his life in ballad and she gave her phone number to him but he lost. Through the social networks this guy tries to discover who this woman. After the saga, nights without sleep in an attempt to find her, in a photo taken by his friend with the Nokia 808 at the moment that she was giving a paper with her phone number, with the powerful zoom of the camera could see the number. More than 3 Million access till yesterday. Was really a viral. That all.

people in Brasil feel misleaded or tricked cause ay first it seemed like a true love message and at the end it was nothing but an advertising. Millions of people in brasil shared this and then felt like idiots causa it was not true love, it was a brand behind.
