Nokia 808 PureView in the house :) Cheers @Nokia_Connects

| August 31, 2012 | 25 Replies

I was expecting this would arrive on Monday but it’s here a little early. I got extremely excited to hear a van parking outside and seeing the BIG YELLOW DHL screaming through the window

“YOUR 808 IS HERE!!”

Props to Katie from Nokia Connects for sorting this trial out.

Uni is about to start on Thursday but before then, I’m going to try and cram as much 808 related things for you guys.

N8 there for size comparison.

Plan for the day…808 unboxing and some filming. I’ve got a couple of other projects I want to be filming with the 808 in the next week or so.

Ah, to be reunited. I haven’t played with 808 since June! Time to saturate myself in PureView :D

Cool I thought i was the only one with a 808 in manchester, When I get it out in the pub people look at it like what the hell is that. is it a htc!!!

Do you think you will still have the phone for when fp2 is released.should be soonish i think.

I’m currently using The one cw v1.5.1 with custom theme effects running smooth as butter for me.I’ve had the phone pretty much since launch. Only paid £410 from amazon.de on pre-order compare to the £500 amazon uk wanted.

You probably are. I’m in Preston now as my base hospital is Royal Preston (still part of Man Uni though).

Fingers crossed I’m there to play with FP2.

Have fun in Preston Jay I did my 4th year there then gen surgery and obs & gynae SHO years. But don’t get sidetracked by shiny new Nokias when you have lots of work to do!!

        • Jay Montano says:

Thanks! Where are you based now and in what field?

I’m trying to squeeze as much as I can before Uni starts. Once it does, Uni becomes priority again with blogging as a part time AFTER revision/pbl cases etc etc. :) There’ll be less things done blogging wise to balance the new uni workload.

please tell me they are giving this to you so you can keep it, not give it back. ffs, the amount of traffic you have and promotion you do for them. they could spare a phone once in a while

    • Jay Montano says:

This is going back in about 2 weeks. Just a trial. I guess if they do it for one blog every blog will expect it so to keep it fair for everyone, trials open to all.

I’ll do what I can in that period. Ali bought his own 808 though so there’s still an opportunity to provide first hand 808 material, and we’ll always share 808 stuff from the community. :)

I might be able to do less than I forecasted since my backpain/sciatica suddenly came back.

    Congrats Jay!

Hey why does Nokia never send me anything? I always support and praise them.

  9. stylinred says:

nice hopefully you’ll have time to use it and hopefully its not a buggy unit like mine :/

My 808 suffered freezes in the beginning, I also could not use different ISO settings on the camera -> images were black. On the other hand, I recall there were some goodies, like Asphalt 6, a Golf game, notes widget (!), NatGeo, etc…

I did hard reset and the freezing issue including black photos are gone. I also lost some games and Notes widget. But stability was worth the loss of these few apps.

Make sure to read this article to get the most out of the camera. It contains a lot of info which isn’t immediately obvious:
