Nokia trolling Samsung’s rumoured Billion dollar’s worth of nickel coin filled trucks

| August 31, 2012 | 46 Replies

Game on. Nokia’s getting more and more fiesty with Samsung and has posted a lighthearted picture above.

https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10151013674497397&set=a.338008237396.161268.36922302396&type=1&relevant_count=1

You may have heard false rumours of Samsung supposedly trolling Apple by sending off their patent-infringement payment of 1 Billion dollars in a fleet of trucks filled with nickel coins.

With Samsung taking a bit of the limelight for launching the first WP8 devices, Nokia is keen to assert its position as the only WP manufacturer that matters (it’s the only one really trying).

Is it a little too much? I’m all for twitter banter, and the back and forth teasing, but this might come off a little too strong for some. Or is Nokia finally ready to be bold and aggressive in the tough war of smartphones? Each move seems to be promising something big. I hope Nokia delivers. Please. No anticlimax.

Cheers Vedhas Patkar for the tip.

Did anyone catch on Engadget how Samsung made a logo that’s a little familiar for their “Smart Lounge”

  2. Viipottaja says:

:) On the other hand, Nokia’s PR/viral department needs to calm down a little. At some point this goes from being somewhat funny to awfully bad form.

Hhaha I saw it on facebook but didn’t get it till now, I was like WTF? Truck of coins or a Lumia?

    This is rude indeed.

Nokia is on fire, I like it.

    Crossing fingers for sep.5th.

I think Nokia is doing the right things. It understands what it needs. People’s attention!

While I’d personally take the billion in nickels over the Lumia, its a funny lighthearted kind of trolling that’s not too serious. As long as its an every blue moon type of occurrence.

Nokia is really bold now which leads me to hope that they really have something different and something big dying to be unveiled on September 5th! I just hope the magnitude of the disruption they’re going to show us would be at least as powerful as the 808 PureView’s announcement.

Nokia now has the confidence of a woman wearing her first $285,000 Dior ballgown.

  11. GS65 says:

I am now 100% certain the images aren’t fake. Look how the truck have red and purple colours. Not magenta as Nokias previous colours. Same as in the image of the 820! This can not be a coincidence.

This bullying is not good for Nokia. It is not the true characteristic of a leader. Instead of all their big talk that is happening lately, I would rather much prefer they make themselves heard by their work. Fingers crossed for 5th Sept. That day is “Teacher’s Day” in India. Let’s see what does Nokia teach.

On that note, I wont be surprised if Nokia introduces a 41MP PV in the upcoming Lumia’s. There is no reason why a 41MP sensor can’t be introduced, if 21MP (“rumoured” PV lite) can be. The camera processor is a separate chip from the main processor anyways.

Also, I am guessing they might introduce a keyboard variant as well. After the Dell one, there is officially no Windows Phone in the market with a keyboard. So, they can sell a few in that category. The successor to E6 is already long due now.

have fun trying to get two processors to talk to each other in real time on MinWin.

Until you can get a 41MP single chip solution; pureview pro won’t happen on lumia.

YES! Nokia is being so bold and aggressive with Samsung, they’re giving Samsung a taste of their own medicine! Those arrogant Koreans are getting some karma now. Samsung has been extremely arrogant over the last few years, and all reasonable people knew that their arrogant ways weren’t going to last. Finally we see some justice against Samsung.

I know some Nokia fans might not like this, but as already mentioned by some here already, this is important for Nokia because it gets Nokia ATTENTION. Hype, attention, something to get people talking … this is exactly what Nokia needs.

Also because Samsung’s reputation now is weaker due to the Apple court ruling, this is the perfect time for Nokia to be aggressive. Nokia needs to take this opportunity and push hard in the market while Samsung’s and Android’s reputation has been weakened.

    • Michael says:

      Hah! What weakened reputation?

      http://www.gsmarena.com/apple_loses_its_patent_lawsuit_against_samsung_in_japan_-news-4728.php

After all its globally well known that US Courts aren’t the most reliable when it comes to justiceship.

      • n8thegreat. says:

What weakened reputation? Lol the jury ruled Samsung must pay over a BILLION dollars, it’s been news everywhere. The overseas lawsuits are small news, Apple won some, lost some. In this US lawsuit the jury ruled that Samsung copied almost everything that Apple accused it of copying. The judge can triple the damages if she chooses because Samsung copied willfully and on purpose according to the jury verdict. The law allows the judge to triple the damages. I don’t even live in the US and I know how big this is. A lot of my friends are talking about this, and some of them are not even techies and they don’t follow court cases that often.

Samsung stock a few days ago had the biggest drop in 4 years. Samsung lost over 12 billion market value on the stock market over the last few days. For investors their reputation has been weakened, and Korean news outlets are reporting that Samsung is very concerned that they’ve been branded a copycat in the international media.

        • Michael says:

Keep on lauding such perverted brutality sunny boy.

At this rate we’ll soon find ourselves paying even for patented hair styles, tattoos and whatnot!

I bet the next they’ll go after agricultural industries for growing a fruit that terribly resembles an Apple, their registered trademark logo.

When this happens then the day won’t be far when you’re going get taxed over inhaling O2.

No room to breath. None to innovate. No humanity!

Welcome to the dark age of modern slavery!

See you there Nigger and, ironically, you won’t be needing any black!

today i saw something that annoyed me.i was viewing a cellphone brochure from a network provider and EVERY samsung in there had this huge star emblem thingy on it that said “worlds number 1 mobile manufacturer” bleh and if thats nt bad enough in the middle is a page advertising the s3 with a chick about to throw a cellphone (something resembling a 5110) and the catch phrase says “throw away your old technology”…while in the background i had my friend talking crap saying that the iphone is by far better than the s3..ignorant fool..point is i miss the days where i bought every flagship nokia that was released, and being head of my friend pack.nokia is only but a memory now..whatever they have in store i sure hope its as great as they portray it and that they reclaim the no.1 spot

  16. asad khan says:

obv i have a preference for the one billion united states dollars in nickels

  17. Vedhas Patkar says:

Is that an indication that a new design is coming?

  18. DesR85 says:

Looks more like a friendly jab compared to trolling if you ask me.

And let’s be honest here, since when was the last time Samsung advertised in a non-insulting way? Their Samsung Street Challenge videos insulted not only Apple but also the people using their products.
