Nokia Lumia 920 vs iPhone 4S – low light PureView and screen sensitivity test
This image was on Anandtech showing a comparison between the screens of the Nokia Lumia 920 against the iPhone 4S.
I’m not sure if they’re doing something wrong on the iPhone as it doesn’t even look like the brightness is on. Perhaps the lighting has adjusted too much to a possibly brighter screen on the 920?
Actually, reading the article this is actually a camera test. That’s why it looks so dark on the 4S screen because it wasn’t able to capture as much light.
Nokia had a scene setup in the dark to test the Lumia 920′s low light camera performance. A vase with flowers was set inside a dark box with a port big enough for you to get a smartphone inside. Without using a flash or a tripod, low light performance of the 920 was pretty impressive:

They say the super sensitive touch works really well. Cloth touch working on 920 that did not work on iPhone. Also, wireless charging was apparently seamless.

Hey Jay….
You might want to check this out…….

They have a couple of videos showing how images like this is captured and also about OIS….
i dunno.. it seems like the 920 uses its focus light.. but I am not sure
2 mins. on
at the 2 min mark it is actually the infamous van. it’s with the headlights turned on.
yap as you said Focus light for focus purposes only… you can see it clearly in the 2nd shot of 920, it waited for the focus light to turn off just to show that it was just a focus light not for illuminating the image…
Imagin this tech combined with the sensor&tech from the 808. drool.
200+ gram device.. ?
so? If I can live with a huge bump on the back of my phone a few more grams wouldn’t be deal breaking.
Fantastic mind blowing superb ……….the 920 can run circles around the iPhone 4s .
**** ths will blow every smart phone
Kudos Nokia great job indeed great great
Why does the iphone not use the focus assist if the 920 does?
Because it uses magic.
The more I see that yellow sports car with chrome wheels Win8 Lumia, the more I want it and that beautiful curved screen.
I was disappointed in only one thing, who has a Win8 tablet with 3g-4g?? Win8 needs a carrier tablet. Could there be another announcement? I wanted a Coffee Tab so bad.
It does use it. The first time the guy with the Iphone takes a picture you can see the guide light, but it’s very weak. IOS for the win!
This is what Wall street journal had to say about Nokia 920
“Mr. Elop said Nokia has worked hard to distinguish the devices. The Lumia 920 will have an eight-megapixel camera similar to the iPhone 4S, but it will have a Carl Zeiss lens.”

Shame that they under play the difference.
I dont think we should blame WSJ here….its Nokia’s fault that they did not explain the Pureview in details
Thats what happens when People dont care to explain new technology developments in details…
That lady and vice president of sales should either resign or Nokia should bring professional speakers to such events…
Now compare it to Nokia 808 pureview
