It’s nice that you need to tell us of your depression. Jay’s going to be a doctor, there are pills for that. Oh my, did you see theVerge review of Samsungs products? “Cheap plastic, hand painted that will rub off as your appreciation of the phone leaves”. Ouch. The reviews of the new Moto phones today were.”Butt ugly”.
I think Nokia won the day. Sorry, I know you are in a depressed state.
the stock price is not indicative of nokia phone quality,
the stock price fell because of no availability, cell carrier, price, info.
no info makes investors nervous and they sell, they are in it for the money only and trade daily while keeping an eye on future quarterly results, they will be back when all details are released and the phones are available for sale.
nok is up 5 % pre market.
Its nice but if a customer cant find sumwhere to buy it at home lik any of the compition its no good come on nokia start banging these babys out and make sum revenue and make me happy
um, you know this whole thing called Windows Phone 8 which isn’t actually released yet…? Nokia can’t go releseing the handsets until MS has released the OS…only getting closer to that time I think Nokia will start pushing price and availability (hopefully having learned previous lessons of giving that info out too early leads to interest fluctuations so price announcenent I’d expect to come closer to handset release)
Thank you for the videos, but to tell you the truth…i don’t like this winmo phones, but if it was with rea symbian or meego, than i would like to be the first to put my hands on it.
Windows Mobile does not exist since 2 years ago. There is a completely new OS called Windows Phone. You should have a look at it. Don’t be preoccupied.
In thenokiablog video, 2nd to last at the time of writing, where theres a blondie sitting down with legs crossed over in the black dress. On two occasions near the beginning and the end, it seems lkke she not wearing panties.
I hope Jay or the team continue todays news with a more detailed peek of this lady from the people who took pics of this model. Cmon make your readers happy
On a side note, there are reports, and even in one of the videos above, people have been saying the camera is not that good. Obviously optical stabilisation helps, but the image quality is noisy and grainy. I eagerly await more detailed hands on. But the camera on my lumia 800 is absolutely rubbish. Video keeps trying to focus hunt non stop as well. And the 800 is 8 megapixels too with the so called zeiss name attached, by the way, why is Nokia attaching zeiss to everything? Its taking the brand awareness away from it, by calling crap camera modules like the 800; zeiss. Obviously the 920 has OIS and new software camera algorithms and better light exposure. But if everything else is the same as the 8 megapixel image and video quality as the 800, then I will be waiting for the next nokia event. I like the wireless charging feature though, along with NFC, and better glove support for touch. But be honest, these should be the standard now for Nokia smartphones. I mean what else is there going for these handsets?
As a person who’s just gotten into photography and videography in last 6 months, I didnt buy the 808, purely because I hate the symbian experience now after using lumia 800, having been a fan for so long. E71 = legendary. I knew the 808 keyboard and internet browser would be rubbish. Which is the two main things for me. So I wanted the 808 for the camera and video ability, not for the software. I want a dslr back up, asin point n shoot camera quality, within a smooth usable touch phone. So I was expecting a wp8 device from nokia with atleast a 20+ megapixel pureview lite, as we know wp7 has a good keyboard, browser, all round usability. So this would have been an ideal phone.
But instead we get a reported sub par camera with an 8 mp camera, that has OIS, branded as pureview. Regardless of what Damian Dinning says, we all saw the videos where all nokia and external stakeholders were referring the 41mp oversampling camera in the 808 as pureview. But now Nokia is saying pureview is just a general name and not just the lossless zoom and oversampling found in the 808. Hmmm seems fishy moving the goalposts. Is Elop sacrificing the pureview name so windows phone can catch up to allow a real pureview camera like the 808? I think so.
I mean look at it this way. 808 has the oversampling ability with its huge 41mp or whatever mp it has to allow decent image quality and lossless zoom, comparable to high end point n shoot cameras and some dslrs. The lumia 920 with its 8mp does not have the same image quality as the 808 to begin with, all it has is stable images and videos due to its OIS. This can be sorted out in the 808 with a monopod or tripod. Which one would you prefer.
What really bugs me is the demeaning of the brand pureview on the lumia 920. Really some guy posted an image on twitter and let me tell you, my 800 is same quality. Why not just call the 920 PureStability. Because that all it has, I do not think it will have the similar image quality as 808. My now worst nightmare is, when more detailed hands on come out, the 920 8mp will have same quality as lumia 800 and 900 8mp camera.
Im not trolling guys, I just wanted REAL pureview, with a lite version of 808 with maybe 20+ mp camera and 4inch plus screen with a decent phone, i.e wp8. Im just a bit let down.
Oh and theverge has debunked nokias ad of the bicycle girl, as nokia now says it was not shot with the lumia 920, as the video portrays. So how do we now know the pics shown during the keynote of the girl near the tree and the buildings in background, where the competitor smartphone was dark, but the bright ones were taken with the 920?
The video of the rig with two smartphones, one being the 920 taking a stable video compared to the other smartphone, and the video showing 920 taking better bright pics of a flower, compared to the iphone. Both of these videos do calm me down, however I just was expecting lite 808 … Maybe I shouldnt have expected anything. I really hope the later images of the 920 that will come out are of good quality, because everything else, nokia aced it. Apart from the speakers i.e ms harlow.
Im likely to buy the 920 as my love for Nokia, but like I said, a 21mp camera on a wp8 nokia device would be my one stop machine for everything. Satnav, point n shoot quality pocketable camera, phone, browser. All checked.
I hope Elop and Co read this. If not Jay and team, email my lumia 800 written rant to him. If he cant give me a real pureview wp8 phone, then maybe at least he’ll be able to find pic(s) of the model showing a bit more. Hes CEO, he can do this. Then atleast ill be a bit happier.
Rant over. Feels good writing all this down. Off to bed.
Actually, the color of her panties matches the color of the gorgeous Aalto chair she is sitting on. I wish Nokia paid as much attention to detail in all of its promos and pr materials…

This is where you need an 808 with its lossless zoom and xenon flash.
“Im not trolling guys, I just wanted REAL pureview, with a lite version of 808 with maybe 20+ mp camera and 4inch plus screen with a decent phone, i.e wp8. Im just a bit let down.”
So what is REAL PureView? PureView is a technology created and poineered by Nokia and has only so far been seen in one device. Why does this mean that PureView technology has to be static and only apply to one method? 808 PureView showed image enhancement with large sensors, 920 PureView shows image enhancement with a regular sensor but image stabilisation and larger levels of light capture.
To me it seems logical that they’d have opted for the lower-bulk option for the Lumia line-up to start with, and when they’re able to keep the camera sensor bulk to a smaller package (hopefully something comes from their graphene sensor patent) then they’ll be no doubt combining as many aspects of the PureView technology suite as possible to their upcoming devices.
To be blunt, a Lumia PureView 808 would be relatively dead in the water as most techno bloggers and reviewers would write it off completely due to the size of the device.
WP8 is evolving and Nokia is gaining more and more experience with it, and is figuring out how it can use the OS to it’s own advantage. I think what we’re seeing is only the start – we’ll be seeing the convergence of various techs as Nokia finds ways of packaging them in sizes that consumers will happily adopt.
The future’s bright, the future’s gorgeous shades of Nokia Polycarbonated PureViews ;0p
Oh and iphone 5 comes out in a week. Most likely, the iphone will be available within 2 to 3 weeks. Regardless of me liking or not like the lumia 920 camera, why did Elop NOT say itll be shipping soon? Can he not ship it, because Ballmer has Elop by the balls, because Microsoft want to show windows 8 to the world first?
Motorola unveiled phones today and should be available pretty quickly. Cmon Nokia. Up your game just by one more small notch. Release these phones NOW.
Whatever drivel iphone brings out, itll be claimed to be revolutionary. Why? Marketing. Our speakers today were crap. Not all of them obviously.
Ok the 808 wasnt marketed for obvious reasons, symbian is no longer favoured. Ok understandable. But if Nokia does not market these lumias, word will not get out. Iphone will bring out oversampling and OIS and call it iDSLR. Nokia needs to tell the world. Market the hell out of it and get more and more carrier support worldwide. Just watched bbc news, and they went round round asking people what their current phone was. Trend was iphone and android. And one lady said she bought nokia years ago. Nokia need to advertise, market and collaborate even more with carriers.
2nd mini rant over. Man if only i was CEO. My vision = awesome
I wouldn’t take any BBC tech reports that seriously – they’ve always expressed an unhealthy iPhone obsession, acknowledge Android and generally never give anything Nokia related the time of day.
It’s sad really, but they seem swayed by the usual lot of zombie iOS techheads.
whats with the model by mnb, should have focus a bit more.
Anyway, don anybody thinks that after pureview and puremotion, there will be a phone that combines these 2 technology soon? like the next flag phone for 2014? assuming 920 is flag phone for 2013 though.
I wanted to like these phones, but I cant bring myself to do it. As flagship phones the 920 and 820 both fail. The 920 design is beautiful but the specs are so lame. Pureview and HD+ Display gimmicks arent enough to make me leave my N9 for the Lumia 920. I’ve had my money ready for a while now decided to not replace my N9 with a Sammy GS3 because I wanted to believe Nokia would once again take is rightful place in the smartphone market but it has let me down. I sadly now wait to see what the Next Gen Iphone specs look like and will decide btw that and the GS3. 12 devices I owned form Nokia loved them all but cant keep throwing my money away, when all theyre doing is playing catch up. I see theyre on the path to become great again..but theyre not there yet. When that does happen I will gladly come back. Maybe a truly great flagship for 2014/2015? I hope so.
There we go!! Nokia release a new phone said to be a flagship and the general thoughts around the net is that Nokia could have done better! On what specifically though?
1. Camera
2. No micro sd card slot
32gigs may be just right so not much complaints for me and i think thats something you can live without. I believe Nokia should have bumped up the camera though. Minimum 12mp would have kept the crowd happy. Nevertheless its something that was not done and now we just have to wait and see what the reaction of the buying community has to say. Bearing in mind that the new iPhone is rumoured to have a 12mp cam on board which would be heralded as the next best thing and god sent by the tech blog communities thus feeding bs to every man and his dog and hence being detrimental to the 920 sales.
No matter what we say, the final word will be in the sales and nothing else.
nokia ddnt really showed up what we were expecting for , the phones are great but non of them is as great as other competitors, well m still liking the nokia lumia 920 in black and yellow.
and yeah i think the yellow, red and white come with glossy finnish where as the black and grey come with matte finnish.personally matte looks premium but the yellow is really funky
hope so the next device from lumia to have a floating lense 41 mp ois camera , with little or no bump and lossless zoom . also the camera interface should be similar to 808′s
Everything about Lumia 920 is great, except no expandable memory slot. C’mon Nokia when OS is supporting it now, then why the hell u decided to omit this from ur flagship device. I know 32GB memory is more than enough, but with Full HD recording and supporting Full HD playback, the device’s internal memory will get filled easily. At least Nokia should have given the slot for expandad memory, and had left it to users on whether they wanted to insert memory card in their phone or not. Above all microsft and Nokia didn’t spoke a word abt. mass storage mode or USB on the go feature in Lumia 920. So this is really a big deal breaker for many users…………. Nokia u still have time before u launch this phone, so try to squeeze in memory slot on this thing, or launch one model with 64GB of memory…………….
new nokia phone, but i just dont care. thats sad!
It’s nice that you need to tell us of your depression. Jay’s going to be a doctor, there are pills for that. that’s classy dude!
Yeah thats why the Nokia Stock Fell downloaden 14%
the stock price is not indicative of nokia phone quality,
the stock price fell because of no availability, cell carrier, price, info.
no info makes investors nervous and they sell, they are in it for the money only and trade daily while keeping an eye on future quarterly results, they will be back when all details are released and the phones are available for sale.
nok is up 5 % pre market.
I want the black one! The mate looks more stylish than the polished IMO.
+1
what about the Gray one?
is it mate as well?
I’m still looking for a vid or IRL pics of the grey one. Anyone found any?
This is really good:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cA4vvHrUw3w#!
Nokia really should have shot the bike girl on 920 too.
Its nice but if a customer cant find sumwhere to buy it at home lik any of the compition its no good come on nokia start banging these babys out and make sum revenue and make me happy
sum sum summm.. why just write that right. is it so hard to write “some”
um, you know this whole thing called Windows Phone 8 which isn’t actually released yet…? I quite like the new vertical shades animation in the medium and large size group tiles (see e.g. the PhoneDog video).
Also, the white background looks better in WP8 than it does in WP7.5, IMO.
Oh and mmm, that chair in the NokiaBlog video is just gorgeous (I am actually serious).
really needed the 808 lossless zoom for those shots
wouldn’t say that…I’d say I can’t wait til this 920 PureView tech and 808′s PureView tech combine!
Thank you for the videos, but to tell you the truth…i don’t like this winmo phones, but if it was with rea symbian or meego, than i would like to be the first to put my hands on it.
