HTC Lumia 8X Sample pics and videos – “if you’re a photo bug, the [Nokia Lumia] 920 appears to be the clear winner.”
Despite the Nokia Lumia 920 demolishing the competition in recent quick low light tests (including the HTC One X – for video too), we have had commenters saying that the WP8 HTC Lumia 8X supposedly takes better pictures than the Nokia Lumia 920.
Really?
WPCentral have some sample pictures and videos over at:

“if you’re a photo bug, the 920 appears to be the clear winner.”
Well, if you’re a mobile photobug, you might want the Nokia 808 PureView. Symbian fans love it! It’s a super versatile camera phone which needs a lot of responsibility to control all that imaging power.
But for those who want the more rounded smartphone experience with some really great and innovative specs and can stand the larger size, then for sure, go for the Nokia Lumia 920 with PureView v2.
I’m not sure how the 8X fares against the OneX. Supposedly they have the same rear camera. If that’s the case, then the 920 seems to take better video/pictures already (in low light/indoor video) WPCentral thinks that’s the case too.

Standard quality for a 1/3″ sensor .. I don’t expect the 920 to be much better in daylight, but it should be way better at night. It seems like MS have improved the jpeg compression a bit.. good job.
Has anyone noticed that the most common way to show off the 808 are pictures of bugs?
Actually the 808 shines in landscapes/low light.. not insect macro shots.
how about you try to capture the picture of bugs regardless what phone you have.
You’re seeing too much of topolino’s 808 videos.
I can compromise what 808 camera is offering with Lumia 920, but I’m still bit curios about WP8 ability especially the multitasking aspect. Can anyone comforming that it will be on par with Symbian or MeeGo?
Microsoft still hasn’t shown off all the features of WP8. They have been very secretive up until this point with the new features in WP8. So far, honestly nothing but the home screen and inclusion of nokia maps as the default mapping system has changed. So i’m assuming the Multitasking will be the same as WP7 where the apps get frozen in place kinda like the Multitasking in iOS. So to answer your question, as of now, WP8 will not have multitasking like Meego Harmattan. Meego Harmattan is far superior then Symbian or any other operating system in multitasking. Well Maemo on the N900 is right up there with Harmattan. Hope that answers your question
I agree Windows is not able to do things like MeeGe. Consumes much more resources hence need more processor performance/power and energy for similar tasks especially system operations. MeeGo is Linux and that is the power, speed and lighter resource “consumption”.
Oh Linux is magic unicorns? So what’s Android’s excuse?
Android is not FULL Linux, just rests of Linux after castration. Would be good to recognise that significant difference.
Well, looks like we finally agree on something.
Any actual source for the claim that “Consumes much more resources hence need more processor performance/power and energy for similar tasks especially system operations.” ?
Oh and in one of the WP8 videos there is a screen showing background tasks, so who knows what’s coming. My bet is still on controlled background tasks (music, location, networking, etc)
Well.. the kernel can certainly multitask fine, its all about MS deciding how they want to do it.
Symbian has the same multitasking as MeeGo, its just done with a different UI ..

Thanks. So I suppose WP8 is not for me. But I really like 920 design and every other aspects packed in it.
what does HTC Lumia 8X even mean??
If you have Hemophilia, you need to go to a Hemophilia Treatment Center (HTC)
or to Hidden Tricky Cave if you are a speleology enthusiast.
It means, Hey This Copy Lumia 8X
lol sarcasm, nice heading.
ha ha ha… thats a good one… and for once I thought you would make a mistake…
Good one Jay
I wish I could merge the 8x design with the 920 features.. be the perfect phone for me
Are you serious?
Comparing the build quality between 8x and 920/820 shows me that there is not a small chance that would make me pick the 8x over 920. Before making any hasty decisions, I strongly recommend everyone to see both devices in real life. Nokia has industry leading quality.
This is trap of being Windows OEM. Both looks the same at first. Most of potential customers will not care for such details. HTC hardware is reported to be better. HTC would not have a chance to play this trick if Nokia would use MeeGo. With Windows Nokia even will not be able to accuse them effectively, I mean that Microsoft will not allow for any action against another OEM, especially when they does not care from which OEM Microsoft will collect money.
Serious or not serious, a final effect is unpredictable. HTC can afford for this, but Nokia currently… I’d rather not comment.
I also think HTC had considered precisely if Nokia can afford for such expenses and if Microsoft allow to accuse them. I think you can guess what was the conclusion.
Like I said, all Nokia has is.. the name “nokia” and that is it. There are no other significant ways to differentiate from the other OEMs.
The 8X is not even the “high end” device, its more likely to be priced against the 820.. you pick them both up in the store, which are you going to go for ? I am going with the 820 just because its a Nokia, not because it offers anything different really.
Not impressed at all. The only great image out of the bunch is the one of the street sign and La Taverna. All the rest lack clarity and detail. Look at the one of the alley. With all this talk about sensor quality from HTC, why can’t I read what that sign in the background says?
Oh, Jay, you have actually done HTC a favour. You knew the ‘Lumia’ brand is more famous than ‘Windows Phone’, right?
