Pic: Nokia Lumia 900 Proto with a curved screen
The Nokia Lumia 800 and N9 were highly praised for their design, with one of the main characteristics being the seamless curved glass front screen.
This was expected in the Nokia Lumia 900 but we were told that Nokia was unable to do this as the integrity/strength of the screen was compromised or words to that effect. Evidently, having a curved large screen was solved as we will soon see this on the market again with the Nokia Lumia 920.
However, for those interested, above is what appears to be a prototype of the Nokia Lumia 900 but with a curved screen. I think it’s already a lot prettier than the flat 900. The screen appears to bulge out a lot more.
BTW, Nokia produces a lot of variants of their devices, different protos that as part of the usual design process does not make the cut. It could be as small as a curved screen or an old Windows button (as opposed to the new one) to something as great as a totally unreleased, unseen device on a totally different OS.

They look beautiful and stunning
That E7 Taika looks badass!
yay
It’s in a glass case, yet they STILL leave the screen protectors on… yaaarrghhhhh!!!! Take them off it’s driving me batty!!!
Looks really weird. Frankly glad my L900 does not look like that.
HOLY BUBBLETOP BATMAN! Look at the bulge on that L900. The curvature must be bigger than previous ones. More curvy and more glass makes it more fragile. I think that’s why they went with flat design at the end.
You *AY Montano, its not a curved glass. dont make up a post to prove you can deliver cheap thrills to your blog’s followers !
its just the transparent plastic wrapping on the lumia 900 that comes with a new piece. though the screen is flat, it slightly bulges out on the edges because of the raised bezel edge around the screen and the tapering profile of the polycarbonate front frame. please pay some more ATTENTION TO DETAIL. sound familiar ?
I agree! Blasphemous post Jay! Stop trying to get page views with your lies (we’ll ignore the fact that you listed a source) You can obviously tell that it’s a plastic wrapping shell that looks almost exactly like a curved glass screen (obviously photoshopped)! We’ll also ignore the fact that there is no bezzel on the screen, and that the curved corners are much more prominent.
LOLOLOLOOLOLOLOLOL!!!!!

I actually quite like the flat-screen Lumia 900. And I really like the curved glass on the L800, but on the 4 inch screen of the L900, the flat one looks very badass. Like a refined Nokia E7 in almost every aspect (except the QWERTY of course
N9 Lankku, haha N9 the plank.
Why did they have the “condom” on the N9?
Jay and MyNokiaBlog team, totally offtopic (it’s sunday), I have a public service request…
Could you guys do some investigation to find out if Swype will be available for Win Phone 8?
I imagine a lot of potential Lumia converts coming from Android may be interested in this information. If Swype is not available, it could very well derail their plans. Frankly it’s probably the main thing making me not want to ditch my N9.
OFF TOPIC:
Seems like something is wrong with the layout of MNB. The pages look kinda weired (overlapping of text and picture).
@ MNB-Team: Did you guys change anything?
Sorry about that. WordPress’ Jetpack plugin is playing up. When it is disabled, the layout is fine. When jetpack is active, the layout breaks. I’m looking into it but as far as I know, it’s up to the jetpack team to fix it.
With jetpack offline it means comment subscription is not available for now.
Really, you’d think that before they’d unleash their updates, they’d make sure it actually works and doesn’t break functionality.
Update: Now everything looks fine again
“Taika” is finnish for “magic” or “spell”.
Yeah, sure was magic how much the E7 could suck, considering which company manufactured it. :€
It’s because they already reused the N9s design…it would have been just like what apple did…reuse reuse reuse
will there ever be a new nokia n9 (without windows os)?
