Nokia Lumia 920 exclusive November launch with Rogers Canada

| October 8, 2012 | 16 Replies

MobileSyrup reports that Canadian carrier, Rogers, will be launching the LTE Nokia Lumia 920 exclusively.

Although Nokia were making a joke on the iPhone and supposedly bringing a splash of colour with the Lumia, black is supposedly the only colour available for Rogers. Odd.

It sucks that they’re only bringing the black one. Even though they could bring the Rogers themed red Lumia 920. That would go very well with Rogers

  2. Kruse says:

So you think that “only black” is a Nokia decision?

Send an email to Rogers and ask why, that my proposition!

  3. Canbacon says:

The good: At least Canada won’t be late to the party (that much)
The bad: It is on Rogers
The ugly: No colour options and that buying unlocked doesn’t save any money at all. Since they don’t give any good plans off contract (3 years).

I’m hoping that Wind Mobile Canada will at least try to get the 820.

I think it is one of the oddest things in the mobile world that Rogers Canada seems to hate colors. I woke up to the fact with the original Lumia launch. I don’t know how prevalent that is on the market as a whole, since I’m not a Canadian, but compare Nokia Canada website with that of pretty much any other Nokia website and it is blacker than black.

Maybe Canadians hate colorful stuff. :) Or perhaps not, considering where Elop hails from – since he is personally responsible for all Nokia actions for all eternity. Maybe he hates that his fellow Canadians were to get colors and banned them there? So that his neighbours envy him? Yes, that must be it.

rogers is full of idiot trust me i used them for 5 years before moving to wind mobile……they like to *** around with nokia products

  5. Bob says:

This whole carrier exclusivity is absolutely killing any chances of success for the 920.

Even to the point of disallowing one of its key differentiators – the colours!!

Microsoft MUST sell all options unlocked in their stores and kiosks (without silly expensive bundles), for any hope of consumer access.

  6. stylinred says:

Its a Rogers thing they normally (at least with Nokias) only bring 1 colour (typically black but with the N8 they brought the silver) and if the phone does well they’ll bring variants months later

  7. Rinslowe says:

The demand for 920 is so shit hot right now Canada can only get their hands on the black version…

    purely speculation of course.

  8. migo says:

It is odd, especially with red being Rogers’ colour.

They only had black for the Lumia 710 as well.

  9. Deep Space Bar says:

lol here in Canada robbers is the worst just like at&t

  10. stephen ahonen says:

    uh oh, exclusive again?

  11. guest says:

Even if you coat 920 with wet shit, it’s still a piece of beauty. Color doesn’t matter. Just imagine this: you wipe the shit off the screen of 920 and bunch of beautiful tiles emerge like gem stones. I’m salivating.

  12. chucky says:

Black again? They did the same thing with the Lumia 900 and after a couple of months they came with the Cyan as well. Hmm.. I guess just gonna buy the unlocked Cyan from somewhere.

  13. Keith too says:

Only black and on 1 carrier that is not well liked in Canada. I don’t know who to blame but that is pathetic. I’ll have to decide between an paying $600 for an out-of-contarct unlocked red or cyan 920 (that will probalby be crapped on with AT&T branding) or giving up on Nokia until their more established in North America and settling for a readily available in-contact HTC 8X with lots of colour choices.

    • migo says:

Nokia will apparently be selling direct in the US as well, so there’s a chance for an unbranded one. Aside from that, you should be able to get one from Amazon unbranded with appropriate frequencies (except maybe LTE?)

      • Keith too says:

I defintely want a LTE and that does complicate things when shopping for unlocked phones. I wasn’t aware of Nokia selling direct in the US though, I wonder if they will be doing the in Canada?
