Windows Phone 8 launch event today in London with Nokia Connects

Last week we heard about the WP8 launch event in London which Nokia Connects has invited several bloggers, many Nokia related to come down.

I won’t be able to make it down there myself due to uni commitments, but we’ll sure report on whatever happens down in London, which takes place this evening at 6pm.

Have fun you guys, I’m dead jealous that you guys get to play with the Nokia Lumia 920s so early :) There might even be some Nokia swag there :) Try and avoid the counterfeit Lumias at the event (they’re labelled HTCrap).

      Morningstar today about Nokia:

      Share price assumption at this moment: 2.40 euro (Nokia share is in Helsinki right now 2.06 euro, in New York 2.56 dollar)

      Best scenario (if WP8 phones go well): the stock price will go to about 7.70 euro per share)

      Worst scenario: no bankruptcy, because Nokia would be sold in parts before that.
      Estimated price for this: intellectual properties over 1 euro per share;
      other business parts (smartphones, featurephones, NSN) at least over 1.50 euro per share.
      And NAVTEQ´s price not included (Nokia bought NAVTEQ with about 7 billion euro). All in all even in this case, Nokia share price would be at least over 2.5 euro. Pretty much like my thoughts and analysis.

    Unlike in earlier events, live stream actually works: mms://a342.l12501350341.c125013.g.lm.akamaistream.net/D/342/125013/v0001/reflector:50341 (no need for #@%#$% Silverlight, open in any mms-able player).

    So far – Joe is boring as usual, and he’s talking about the Live lock-screen. As I’ve assumed, they allowed for more info on the lock screen, nothing new there…

      Opera Mini called, it wants its 2005 feature back. Like no other smartphone out there… If you except Opera Mini, Nokia’s Asha browser and countless of others…

    • incognito says:

      Will we see some actual features or we’ll watch kids and Jessica Alba for the rest of the event? They’re touting the Kid’s corner as the second coming of Jesus… Yeah, that will sell WP and knock-off iOS and Android from the throne…

      Speaking of Jessica, she loves the camera but Nokia wasn’t mentioned once, and Joe (naturally) insists on ‘Windows Phone’ as if all WPs have huge screens or innovative cameras…
