Oooh can you feel it? I can’t wait to bump my contract over to the Nokia Lumia 920!

October 29th is the day Windows Phone 8 is officially launched. Nokia will be there in London with the Nokia Lumia 920.

They’ve invited bloggers to attend this event. I saw mine this afternoon, but I’ve had tips from a couple of people saying they’ve got an invite too.

Not sure if I can go but we’ll report on whatever news trickles through. Once WP8 is officially launched and we finally hear what it has to offer, we can get going with our Nokia Lumia 920/920s being available to purchase in stores.

Same day Google is going to announce the LG Nexus 4, Nexus 7 3G (32GB) and the Nexus 10 (300ppi display) and Android 4.2 It’s going to be really tough for Nokia to grab some attention.

    • Vedhas Patkar says:

You must say windows phone. Nokia has made enough splash with the 920/820′s hardware. one can only hope the software isn’t terrible or lacks far too much functionality.

    • Dave says:

Nobody cared about Android tablets for the last 2 years, only 1% of devices is even on 4.1, and nobody is going to care about a higher res display, as if *that* is what was missing all that time.

Together with the sep 5 event just shows Google is a follower, pathetic losers. Good riddance.

      • Carbontubby says:

Unfortunately that’s true about the whole tablet market in general – it’s iPad or nothing. My tablet was initially on Honeycomb and now it’s on ICS, with a CM10 Jellybean port also available. Only now has it felt smooth and easy to use whereas before, it felt like a clunky mishmash of iOS and Symbian. The beauty of Android is that it’s easy to develop for… catnip for hackers and enthusiasts but not much use for everyday users.

I hope WP8 and WinRT will mean the start of a second cross-device ecosystem after iOS. Nobody cares much about tablet specs, most people are interested in how a tablet can replace their laptop on the go and how it can share data and services with their other devices.

Will Microsoft be using Lumia or HTC for demos?

  9. rich says:

I should be there. Anyone know how long these things last? Nokia told me you’re free to come and go after the 30 minute talk but there’s Q&As and demos etc, so just wondering when they actually say it’s time to go home
