Windows Phone 8 gets Pandora Radio, Cut the Rope, Urbanspoon and more

So I just tuned in to the liveblog at engadget (seeing as I’m over my monthly data limit and can’t watch the video stream) and I’ve seen that Microsoft have announced partnerships to bring top tier apps to WP8. Including the super popular Temple run, Asphalt 7 (which I have on my iPad and is AMAZING), Pandora Radio, Urban spoon, Where’s my water and more. Microsoft’s goals are to have 46 out of the top 50 apps on other platforms available for WP; fingers crossed for flipboard.

shows even more how bad wp7.x was.. should never have been released or at least Nokia should offer some kind of exchange program for those who paid for those dated devices

    • migo

It definitely needed to be released. At the time there wasn’t anything good. Everything else crashed a lot. WP7 was at least stable. WP7.5 made it more usable, and then ICS came out, which finally introduced a second good mobile OS, that was also more feature rich. About 6 months later ICS became more widely available, and at lower prices. Around then is when WP7.5 wasn’t very attractive anymore.

      • Patata

It already wasn’t very attractive from the beginning 😉
Not for people used to Android nor those used to Symbian.
Even Windows Mobile had a lot more functionality than WP 7.x.
WP7.x might have been ok as a feature phone.

      Morningstar today about Nokia:

Share price assumption at this moment: 2.40 euro (Nokia share is in Helsinki right now 2.06 euro, in New York 2.56 dollar)

Best scenario (if WP8 phones go well): the stock price will go to about 7.70 euro per share)

Worst scenario: no bankruptcy, because Nokia would be sold in parts before that.
      Estimated price for this: intellectual properties over 1 euro per share;
other business parts (smartphones, featurephones, NSN) at least over 1.50 euro per share.
And NAVTEQ´s price not included (Nokia bought NAVTEQ with about 7 billion euro). All in all even in this case, Nokia share price would be at least over 2.5 euro. Pretty much like my thoughts and analysis.

All of these apps are more than a year old.

Pandora? Wasn’t that on the iPhone like 3 years ago?

    • migo

You obviously don’t understand what Pandora is if you care about how old the app is.

    • Keith too

So you think Pandora is a game? Pandora could be a very useful app for many years to come.

  • Instagram? Not that I use it. I have it on another phone and tablet and still don’t get it (like Google+).

Temple Run is welcome. I don’t think I can get tired of that (unlike, er, draw somebore)

    • migo

Temple run would be pretty awesome on the Lumia 920. On my iPod touch the screen just isn’t very sensitive, I can’t get very far. The Nexus 7 is a lot better, but it’ll still sometimes not register swipes. I can’t imagine that being a problem with the Lumia 920’s super sensitive screen.

Instagram is a social media app it’s definitely essential that WP8 gets but for some reason i think its one of the 4 apps were not gonna get.

I got really excited for a moment when they were about to announce the “special app” thinking it could be Instagram…but it turned out to be an app that’s not even available worldwide!!

        and no news on WP7.8!!!

        • Viipottaja

MS has undoubtedly showered Instagram with offers they would be foolish to turn down – unless someone else is paying them even more to not do it. 😛

      +1 for Instagram

Seems bizar Nokia has the best camera phones on the market but are unable to make the most use of them? when connecting people through sharing photos?

      • incognito

Instagram should be forbidden by law on devices with even marginally capable cameras.

        • David

Like Microsoft say with Windows Phone each device is personal… if you don’t like it, you don’t install it, but others may want it.

    +1 to flipboard

    • Paul

Took my old HTC Desire from drawer few weeks ago to test what’s all this buzz about Flipboard. What a piece of sh1t app, not practical at all.

Temple Run, meh. Played it maybe an hour total when it launched on Android.
      Instagram, BIG meh!

But sure for some those are big things.

      • arts

On android its a piece of shit, on my moms ipad on the other hand…. best newsreader client ever. or news beautifier. lol

  • timple

    How about the basics?

    Will it support BBC iplayer?

I can’t believe my Lumia 800 doesn’t when my 2 yr old N8 has let me watch programs offline since i bought it….

    • Rahms

      That’s important too!
SkyGo as well but these are UK specific apps

  • sumanth
