Nokia Lumia on sale on the weekend for Europe, rest of the world, November.

| October 29, 2012 | 44 Replies

Steve Ballmer is on stage giving the details on when Nokia’s Windows Phone will be available.

Apparently, for Europe, it’s this weekend. I think I had an email saying some retailers were shipping Nokia Lumia 920 pre-orders but I wasn’t able to verify. I can’t wait to upgrade! Well, the weekend is November anyway (start of)

The Microsoft stores will apparently carry every phone in every colour.

For USA, Verizon’s Nokia Lumia 822 is confirmed, ready by holidays. 820 and 920 for AT&t, 810 for T-Mobile.

I totally forgot about the Sammy phone. It’s all about Nokia Lumia and the HTCrap.

      Morningstar today about Nokia:

Share price assumption at this moment: 2.40 euro (Nokia share is in Helsinki right now 2.06 euro, in New York 2.56 dollar)

Best scenario (if WP8 phones go well): the stock price will go to about 7.70 euro per share)

Worst scenario: no bankruptcy, because Nokia would be sold in parts before that.
      Estimated price for this: intellectual properties over 1 euro per share;
other business parts (smartphones, featurephones, NSN) at least over 1.50 euro per share.
And NAVTEQ´s price not included (Nokia bought NAVTEQ with about 7 billion euro). All in all even in this case, Nokia share price would be at least over 2.5 euro. Pretty much like my thoughts and analysis.

So alle the phones are availabe in the stores. AND ALL COLOURS ARE AVAILABLE ONLINE!

On the UK then EE and Phones 4 U has the 920 from 2nd November.
820 available from the 7th November from EE, Phones 4 U, CPW, Tesco Mobile and O2. Sources were Nokia’s twitter feed.

I read on another web article that for the 920 EE cost was £50 up front then £41 for 24 months for unlimited mins, texts and 1GB of data. I’m Nokia mad but not that mad!

    • l33tuc says:

On the EE website (which isn’t fully open yet) it has listed the 920 “From £19.99/month” and the 820 “Free from £36/month”

      • misterstu says:

And that is very disappointing for the Lumia 920. For consumers and for Nokia. Best to buy Sim Free or wait.

EE tariffs were released a week ago & even without specific L920 information, its relatively easy to see the pattern in the pricing between handsets.

The Iphone is, like the 920, from £19.99. That £19.99 payment is on the most expensive EE tariff £56 a month (8GB limit). So it is likely the Lumia 920 is similiarly priced. OUCH!

The £49.99 price for 1GB (£41 per month) is the same price as the Samsung Galaxy SIII. These are for 2 year contracts.

If available on £36 per month (500MB of data) then it is likely the Lumia 920 will be….£149.99 (the same price as the HTCOneX and SGSIII). OUCH AGAIN.

Hopefully this is a short exclusive or the Sim Free version is readily available. I am not paying those prices (and that is before I enter into a rant about the weaknesses in the LTE framework you will endure for the two years of the contract). Bet the phone on EE will be locked too!

        • l33tuc says:

In some ways I can understand the exclusivity deal, assuming that EE ( nee Orange/T-Mobile ) will push this like pills to prostitutes, however what I can’t get my head around or seem to find any info on is whether EE will have any cheaper non-4G tariffs available? I live in the stixx. We won’t get 4G here for months/years, so why the hell would I want to pay for it?

I’m currently on Orange (EE now), and was due an upgrade to my N8 months ago. I want an 808, or was also considering the 920. I’m a full-time arts uni student, where EVERYTHING is Apple, and it seems like Nokia is determined to price me out of sticking with them. I can’t get the 808 because I’m forced to buy it outright, which I can’t afford, and it seems I won’t be getting the 920 either because I refuse to pay through the nose for a service I can’t even hope to access. Nokia certainly make it difficult to remain a 14 year long fan.

Looks like I’ll have to continue to suffer the infernal “Memory low. Make some space on C:” of the N8 ( Which is otherwise a fantastic phone. )

          • misterstu says:

Stay in there – you’ve shown you’ve had patience, so by January 2013 supply will be up, prices will start to come down & better L920 options will be available. Nokia will announce something at MWC which could easily help to drive the latest and greatest demand to that model. Helping 820/920 prices.

My TMobile plan ends early January and despite my frustration I will find a way to stay Nokia and go 820 or 920 – even if the best option is to upgrade to the latest & best non Nokia phone, sell that on ebay & buy sim free.

You’ll find a way & 2013 will be way better holding one of these than the competition. You know it makes sense! Hotukdeals.com is a good place to keep an eye on mobile phone deals.

            • l33tuc says:

I don’t wanna wait any longer! Humpf! :D

My birthday is in a couple of weeks, and I wanna buy myself a present! lol

I wonder how the upgrade options will work? Whether I’ll be able to stay on current tariff and just replace the phone… that could work…

    • wittgenfrog says:

UK Supply situation is utterly stupid. MOKIA are completely insane, they have a great ‘phone supposedly in many colours, but only available in white or Black from its “Official” suppliers, and in Yellow or Black elsewhere. Availability is unknown for other suppliers & colours.

The EE deal will mean that nobody except extreme fanboys prepared to pay through the nose, or really shop around or idiots buy the 920. Period.

I guarantee that the HTC 8X will become the most popular W8 ‘phone unless\until this is changed.

Well, hurricanes beat tech announcements all the time. =P

anyway the thing i found interesting was the photo sphere. Any other interesting things to see in 4.2?

      • zymo says:

        299/349USD for the Nexus 4

        • KeiZka says:

Only in US, buddy, only in US…

          • zymo says:

299/349€ in Europe (listed already in German Play Store). Not bad for such a device! Lumia 920 is priced at 599€

          • migo says:

Only $10 more in Canada. That price is going to be incredibly difficult to beat, and Nokia is notoriously bad with overpricing their devices. Anything over $500 would kill the Lumia 920 for everyone who doesn’t specifically need something the 920 offers (admittedly, there’s quite a bit, so it’s not like it won’t sell even if they charge $800, but if you’re just looking to buy a phone and don’t want to spend too much, nobody can feel like they got a bad deal with the N4, so it makes for an easy impulse buy).

        • Viipottaja says:

Sounds like Google must be subsidizing it heavily, like they are the tablet already. [Have not looked at the specs but I assume its quite high end.]

          • zymo says:

Specs-wise best Android device! (except for the limited 16GB storage). And for 349USD/EUR it is really a snap!

            • Dave says:

Seems a bit desperate, don’t you think? Or why else does Google sell these at cost, and undercut -and piss off- every Android OEM?

              Have fun with it :)

              • Viipottaja says:

I gather LG is also subsidizing it as a loss leader or very very thin margin – I may be wrong but its not like LG has been doing that great lately either. But I doubt LG alone could cut the price so low – so yeah, Google seems to be in it as well, which is weird given the massive share Android has and that they themselves own Moto. Perhaps they want to show other OEMs Google can give them love too, not just to Moto? :P

                • migo says:

Probably both. At this price, lots of people want it, that’s probably what LG needs to do to compete with Samsung using Android (and what Nokia would have had to do to be able to compete with Samsung had they gone Android instead of WP. Now they just need to compete with HTC, which is a lot easier).

    • Keith too says:

You must have been saving that comment for a week and didn’t realize that Google cancelled their event today lol.

  7. manu says:

not a single word about wp 7.8

    • Keith too says:

This was the launch of WP8. Wait for the launch of 7.8.

      • migo says:

Well things have been dead on WP7.8 in general. I could see current Lumia owners being a little antsy. Due to network problems the Lumia 710 has with Wind (an unfortunate combination of WP, newer Nokia hardware and an immature network), I’ll be passing it to my brother who’s on Koodo, and getting myself a Nexus 4 (there isn’t a good AWS Lumia announced anyway), so I’m not worrying about it now, but it was definitely bothering me before when I figured I’d have to wait until March for BB10.

      • DesR85 says:

I really doubt that there will be a launch event for 7.8. Probably the most I’d expect is an announcement from Microsoft and maybe some videos demonstrating it.

        Just my opinion.

  8. Andy says:

    What is Europe?!?
The EU 27 countries and 500 million people? Europe 50 countries and 740 million people?

I guess it’s as usual when we are bunched together, France, Germany and the UK.

    I want my Lumia!

  9. Bluecheesified says:

That’s a fact they need to put out exact info does anybody know where this info can be found??

  10. MNhut says:

The Nokia Lumia 920 is going to be available tomorrow in France in ThePhoneHouse stores ! They have announced on Twitter that they started to ship it today ! I can’t wait to buy one !!!

  11. Keith too says:

Reportedly, Rogers in Canada is going to start selling the 920 tomorrow.

    • migo says:

I wonder if that’s like how I got the Lumia 710 a week before it was officially on sale because certain stores were perfectly happy to just sell it when they had it in stock.
