the Rogers Lumia 920s have been reported to be unlocked

Its expected though that that’s only for the first, early, shipment and it’ll change next week

I should go grab one! I wonder if the Ebay ones would arrive unlocked

    • http://aligonemobile.blogspot.com/ Aliqudsi

But is the Unactivated the same as Unlocked??

      • migo

Nope, would mean you have to activate yourself and possibly pay an activation fee.

      • stylinred

no its not the same but the rogers ones were/are supposed to be locked to rogers as well (and are available unactivated) but they arrived in customers’ hands unlocked so im wondering if the same would happen with ebays stock

Unactivated is the same as Unlocked? Can I buy the 599 no contract and use a t-mobile sim card?

      • migo

Presumably Rogers wouldn’t get a custom version of the 920 that sports AWS for UMTS when they use that frequency band for LTE if AT&T’s version didn’t have the same characteristics, so it’ll probably work on T-Mobile. That said, no guarantee that it comes factory unlocked, so make sure you have another unlock avenue before you buy it.

        • migo

*It’ll work with T-Mobile regardless on 2G, I meant it’ll probably work with T-Mobile’s 3G network. T-Mobile has lately been repurposing 1900 for 3G as well though, so that confuses matters. It means eventually it doesn’t matter if the phone supports AWS, but it also means that if the AT&T version doesn’t support AWS, that you’ll have some people reporting it does work on T-Mobile and others reporting it doesn’t.

    • Pdexter

So is this unlocked or tied to AT&T

      • dss

Its not the same. It means locked but not activated, unless they changed their minds for the 920, but I doubt it.

  • Viipottaja

Damn… now I might need to get one.. not eligible to upgrade yet on AT&T.. could perhaps give my 900 to my wife. Hmm.. “Santa, can you hear me? You can use the money on my account!”

I am getting this message on the website https://ebay.bbymsolutions.com/

We’re sorry, our site is currently undergoing maintenance and is temporary unavailable.

The site will be back up shortly. Please check back soon.

Everybody found out and the site maybe crashed

  • oaabadat

So let me get this clear. I will not be able to use the Nokia Lumia 920 for T-Mobile USA because the phone will still be locked to AT&T’s network. Is that correct?

    • bogdo

Yes, correct. The Lumia 920 being sold by Rodgers is being reported as being unlocked and working with the carrier Wind, which also uses the same AWS 3g bands that Tmobile USA does. Been trying to find the Rodgers Lumia 920 on ebay but nobody has listed one yet.

    • twig

You can buy a Nokia 920 unlocked at expansys.com and use it on t mobile if you are in the u.s. Both are gsm. Both use each others celltowers.

  • migo

$450 is certainly the right price to make it attractive to buy. Let’s hope it lasts, or at least doesn’t go over $499 at most places in Canada or the US.

  • M

I wonder if I have to upgrade my data plan if I buy the phone activated. Anybody know?

    Nooooooooooooooooooooo….

Do u have any idea if I will be able to use this phone on T-Mobile USA. Because I do not think AT&T will provide the unlock code for it just like they did not provide the unlock code for the Lumia 900 until after 6 months of it getting released. I understand it is sold off-contract but it is still locked to At&T. Can anybody clarify this for me.

    • oaabadat

the website started working for like 1 minute but the yellow one was no longer available. And then the website stopped working again. DAMN!!!

  • oaabadat

The phone is no longer available on their website. I knew it was too good to be true. It seems they released the phone a bit early because as soon it was posted the website went into “maintenance mode” for a couple of hours to take the phone down. Regardless I am pretty sure that if I do buy this phone from this website it will be without contract but it will be locked to AT&T. So there is no way I will be able to use it for T-Mobile because AT&T will not provide me the unlock code, just like they did not provide the unlock code for the Lumia 900.

    • twig

I can’t find it anywhere on the site. Try expansysusa.com for your t mobile 920. Yes it will work, its unlocked there.

  • Bazil

Is this the American version? Will the LTE and UMTS work in Europe? Will I be able to convert it to the Greek language? I think that there are no special language editions like Symbian, the Windows Phone has all the languages installed. Am I right?

  • lmiked

Since the very 1st day Ali posted this, I clicked on the link and I wasn’t able to open it… And now that it opens, the phone is nowhere to be seen… It was a great price… Hope I’ll be able to find it elsewhere at a similar price.

    Cheers!!!
