Video: Nokia Lumia Bottle Opener test

What to do if you haven’t got a bottle opener at hand? Try your phone. Well, if it’s a Nokia Lumia.

What other strange/unconventional ways have you opened bottles?

One bottle against each other? Perhaps against a table? A risky one my Vietnamese friend does is with his teeth! The Sabrage method looks cool, though you would need to pour your drink into a glass (and it is quite dangerous).

    that’s 1 phone app the iphone 5 doesn’t have.

they should try it on the iphone and see what damage gets done

I often use a lighter to open bottles and I call fake on this one. Those caps appear mighty loosened for such easy opening. I’m not saying that there will be necessarily some damage to the polycarbonate, but not to have a single cap refuse to go away on the first push – that’s very unlikely. – iPhone would fare just as well in this ‘test’.

P.S. I used to do it with my teeth in my teenage years… Suffice to say that now I have a bridge instead of the molars that used to do the job – it’s incredibly stupid and childish way to do it as it creates micro-fractures in the enamel and pretty soon the bacteria throws a party there…

If you have nothing at hand for opening, edge of a desk (or any flat, hard surface) is the best way to do it. Silverware or lighters are the next best thing – even if you chip them a bit, they at least don’t cost hundreds of pounds…

Ya, I use a full size Bic lighter and no matter how wrll you do, the bottom of that lighter gets chewed up.

so this is Nokia Uk’s advice for Lumia owners for what they could use their dated wp7 devices for? :p

used to open beer with my 6610i,but still those seem to be too easy to pry off…

Those caps must be loosened up, as the sound is different when you open it first time, but I’m sure the phone would survive just fine, as I myself used various Nokias before for beer opening purposes.

  • Weirdfisher

Hi jay, Whatsapp for Symbian has updated to 2.8.19 from 2.8.14
It has got more icons, same as the other platforms

Don’t know if it has been tipped before

It must be the change in protocol to 1.2 that sends your messages now encrypted instead of plain text…
