Engadget Reviews the Nokia Lumia 620: Precisely what an entry level smartphone should be
Although the Nokia Lumia 620 is not the flagship, it appears to be getting universally loved because it hits squarely on everyone’s expectations. For the price, you get fantastic performance, design and features which is why Engadget praises is, saying THIS is precisely what an entry level smartphone should be like.

The Lumia 620 represents a new high-watermark for entry-level smartphones, regardless of OS.
Kudos, Nokia. These are the kind of products we want to see too. Affordable handsets which still pack a punch and can leave consumers delighted with their purchase. No more “cheap Nokias” that are just detrimental to Nokia’s reputation and sales in the long run.
Now get this out to the masses.

I think this is the best Windows Pone to date.. from a price/functionality ratio point of view. Very well done Nokia..
They say that they got 2 days out of the battery, which is amazing…I guess the tech in the 920 really eats into the battery then because its really hard to get more than a day out of it. LTE doesn’t help either I guess.
and this:
“On the rare occasion the device froze”
Microsoft… get it together, that is why Nokia is paying you.
And… why is that MS are loosing market share in the US ? It doesn’t make any sense

They lost .7 in 4 months..
That data is deeply flawed. Please stop reposting and quoting that data.
Excellent reviews. The 620 is a great device. If they manage to get similar specs into the rumoured 520, than that would be huge as well.
Just a sidenote, the 620 is not officially available in the US nor Japan. However the online site Expansys which sells unlocked phones, has the 620 as their #1 selling phone both on the US website and on the Japanese website. That is VERY good news for Nokia. Hopefully Nokia can get the 620 or a variant of it on US and Japanese carriers. Nokia has no presence in Japan right now, and they sorely need it. That would be a huge win for Nokia to get Japanese carrier support.
I think that the fact why Nokia’s flagship models will not be held as beacons of light in the smartphone world is precisely the lacking functionality from the OS side. There would be no questions asked that Lumia 920 would be one of the best mobile phones in existence would it come with iOS. Too bad Microsoft seems to be happy to update PDF reader bimonthly and call it progress.

This. Very much this.
The freeze could well be Nokia no?
Other WP manufacturers never have issues (HTC etc).
Oh yes they do. Not that much, but they do.
MS needs to get it together on many other areas ( than stability ) as well.

I bought a red 920 a few days ago and so far I have not encountered any freezing. Some apps did freeze, but managed to close it with the back key.
Bought one of these last week, cant run a fee apps, but gorgeous handset for entry wp8. Loving my Lumia 820 More though.
“you’re getting far more than what you pay for.”
comparing with the rest of the competition, this is very true.
I’m thinking of getting one of these as getting bored of waiting for Cyan 920 to hit the UK. Am I the only one? Will it ever happen?
At least I can get some lumia love in mean time until the next Lumia release…
For the price, this really is a good phone.
It it gets the updates it’s going to be even better.
It will get all the updates the rest of the WP8 devices get…
Nokia sorely needs this. This could be make or break for them as it has the potential for wide adoption. Also in their favor, Apple does not compete in this space so it’s a smart move to introduce a value leader at this range. Fingers crossed that they introduce a Lankku design at this price range at 4″!
This is how Nokia and MS need to do WP8 ! Way to go !
