Video: Elop on Nokia X; Why Nokia Went Android

MNBIMG_3492With today’s earlier announcement of the Nokia X family, and the launch of Nokia’s first ever Android device there are a lot of questions out there. While many of them have been answered in the launch, recode.net got a chance to sit down with Elop and get his thoughts on the first Nokia Android device, check out the video interview below:

When asked about why Nokia had to go with an Android device, it’s not that they *HAD* to, but instead that they saw an opportunity that no-one else was properly talking advantage of, a low end market with very low price-points that wasn’t getting any quality devices. Nokia saw this as an opportunity to direct users towards their Lumia devices by creating a similar UI visual experience as well as design factors that would hopefully lead consumers to buy a Windows Phone Lumia when they were ready.
