When the Nokia Lumia 1520 was announced with 4 microphones, folks asked, what about surround sound recording? There was omni and directional but what about that 5.1 surround sound feel?

According to the video below, the Nokia Lumia 930 can record in Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound! Can the 1520 get it too? The settings are still being worked on so Daniel can’t show us.. But look at the video at the back, one was recorded by the 1520. Daniel says that was also heard in surround sound! And if that wasn’t enough, Daniel says he heard hints that this will come to 1520/ICON.

Nokias have always been class leading in sound quality recording. Back in the day, when others sound like a transformer transforming in the tinny, metallic mess, Nokia was providing beautiful stunning recording, with the likes of the N93 producing perfect left/right stereo like no other. That already seemed like surround sound at the time as you could sense where an object was moving.

Sound just as important to the whole watching experience sometimes. True, you’d need some not-awful (phone/laptop) speaker to appreciate it (decent headphones/earphones or speaker system) but when it’s there it’s just another dimension to hear such clarity and precision in direction.

BTW, updates from Jay: Still having problems. One is quite major actually. Unfortunately due to exams, I cannot spend anymore time than what I have already but I will get back to attempting to revive MNB if I can. Thanks!
