Advertisements   Much may have changed in a short time as news trickles in to say that there will no longer be a ‘Meltemi’ effort from Nokia. http://allthingsd.com/20120614/nokia-to-end-meltemi-effort-for-low-end-smartphones/ Meltemi was a Linux based OS what was thought to be capable of scaling down to very basic phones but also possible of scaling up. Meltemi followed […]

Rumours: More info on S40 and Meltemi

Quick post as I am on my work lunch break but thought this needed to be shared. (Sorry if there are typos, posting straight from my N950). As always, take this with huge pinches of salt. My source told me some intersting things regarding S40 and Meltemi. S40 will supposedly have more processsing power than […]

Nokia RM-714/Nokia 311 appears at FCC, full touch S40/meltemi with swipe, multitouch and 3 homescreens?!

Nokia RM-714/Nokia 311 appears at FCC, full touch S40/meltemi with swipe, multitouch and 3 homescreens?!

The above is the RM-714, whatever that is. Oddly, unlike the more recent secret FCC documents where the phone is unknown, I expected Nokia to put a generic block shape for the label. But what we can see is actually the phone’s borders with everything else edited out. The tests show nothing of much significance. […]

I skim read an article earlier which seems apparently indicated that Nokia were working on two MeeGo phones. They cite a Nokia ‘industry insider’  for this information. According to an industry insider Nokia is working on 2 new low end MeeGo handsets, and information was recieved directly from Nokia’s Next Billion Group. http://www.netbooknews.com/47197/nokia-working-on-two-new-low-end-meego-smartphones/ MeeGo? Kinda.bit.ly/GHGoZO There’s a site called I’m unfamiliar with that is there apparently to host a mirror of a read only version of the original Qt projects at  qt-project.org. There we can see mention of Qt for Meltemi. It […]

Meltemi for Nokia Tablets too? iPad Killer in the works? Magical MeeGo touch?

Whilst it may be heavily beneficial for Lumia to have a similar product in tablet form, Nokia may not rely purely on Windows alone. Do you remember this interview we saw back in November?  The key part here was Elop hinting that Nokia’s tablets may not just be on Microsoft’s platform. http://mynokiablog.com/2011/11/10/elop-interview-swipe-ui-will-live-on-great-progress-with-us-carriers-swipe-tablet/ Elop as […]

Meltemi and Nokia’s fight back on cheaper Androids?

| March 9, 2012 | 136 Replies

Continuing the focus of better value Nokias – cheaper devices but packing more for your money, we’re looking not just as cheaper Windows Phone but to Meltemi. Reuters published a recent article talking about Nokia’s fightback on cheaper Androids. Though published yesterday, there is nothing new here but it’s interesting that it is being discussed […]

Meant to post this the other day (just so much going on atm and forgetting about the stuff I put in reminders :S). Unlike possibly vague predictions or current public knowledge presented as their personal prediction *cough*ELMU*cough* dsmobile has been quite specific on certain things and has shown to be accurate (we’ll have to see […]

Meltemi IS Linux based replacement for S40

Meltemi IS Linux based replacement for S40

| October 7, 2011 | 122 Replies

Remember Project Meltemi – a new Linux based OS for Nokia, as indicated by the name (which follows the Maemo way of wind names). We had a tip that we didn’t get to post about as I wasn’t sure where it was going, but GSM Arena later covered saying it’s NOT Linux, with speculation that […]
