From rarely receiving updates to actually remembering a recent update just taking place, Spotify for WP seems to be finally making itself usable again. It says that this version has free listening with ads, but I thought that came in another update (where I finally got playlists and shuffle function). Anyway, kudos Spotify team.
Dear MNB Readers, When updating the Display app by Nokia this morning, I noticed that the Publisher was no longer Nokia Corporation but rather Microsoft Mobile Oy. WindowsPhoneCentral provides some additional information: It had to happen sooner or later. Nokia apps on Windows Phone Store, including Nokia MixRadio, Nokia Camera, and others are now published by Microsoft Mobile […]
Hello All, In this day and age of superphones, HD screens, Quad and Dual-Core CPUs, millions of polygons per second GPUs, unibody construction, 5+inch screens and 41MP monster cameras and nearly a million apps across OSes, I almost wonder how did we make it in the “dark ages” of mobile technology a few years ago. While […]
Dear MNB readers, During CES 2012, we reported on Microsoft’s Smoked By A Windows Phone challenge (Link) where MS demonstrated WP7 Mango’s ability to perform everyday tasks quicker than most smartphones/OSes. Well, those series of events inspired me to make a few videos of the things that I use my Lumia 710 for each day and […]
Hello fellow Mynokiablog readers! Today we present an honest (harsh?) video comparison of Asphalt 6! The nitty-gritty details can be found in the video description below. From MrNokiaTech: “NOTE: Gameloft “ported” Asphalt 6 to the Symbian^3 OS. It appears that they were not able to harness the power of the Broadcom GPU and […]
How about starting your weekend with a bit of riot worthy news? Pocket-lint is reporting that the apps Nokia create for Windows Phone are also going to be available on devices from their competitors like HTC and Samsung. Pocket-lint had an interview with Marco Argenti, senior vice president of Developer and Marketplace at Nokia partly […]

I read this last night but somehow forgot to post it. It’s the official PayPal application available at Nokia’s Ovi Store. I checked and it said compatibility for Symbian^3, Symbian^1/S60V5 and S60v3. http://store.ovi.com/content/107164 It looks nicely done. Tabbed navigation at the bottom for quick, menu-less interaction. “Send money to your friends, manage your account and […]
Nokia addresses Chinese character input again with a new app called Nokia Diexie. Instead of having to write one character at a time, you can now write complete sentences. You can try it out on your Symbian^3 or S60 5th Edition devices. No Stylus needed, your finger is your pen. http://betalabs.nokia.com/apps/nokia-diexie Nokia Diexie (诺基亚叠写) is […]
The folks at Windows Phone Applist curate a list of pretty much every single Windows Phone 7 app released to the Windows Phone Marketplace. In the 177 days since the final version of the Windows Phone SDK went live and 142 days since the first devices went on sale, developers have flocked to the platform […]
Here’s an awesome app from BetaLabs – Nokia Big Screen! Basically, when you hook your N8 or other Smybian^3 device up to a TV via HDMI, the app automatically starts up to show a Media Centre like interface. I loove these types of interfaces. Sure it’s great that Symbian replicates the whole phone screen, but […]
Video: TheTrainLine.com App for Symbian demoed on Nokia N8. Buy train tickets and check train times with ease!
Back in October we saw thetrainline.com advertising their application using the Nokia N8. This app has been available for download from Ovi Store for a few days now and let me tell you that it’s awesome! It is a really slick useful application for UK train travellers. You can check train times as well as […]
Here’s a really good alternative to the awesome SPORTS TRACKER app on Symbian. It’s all accelerometer based so there isn’t a GPS tracking side to it to calculate actual distances/speed (or show you your track path) but it’s good enough for basic monitoring. Isn’t there like a recommended 10,000 step minimum? It’s free to download […]
Flashlights/Torches – never really around when you need one. Often, it’s too dark to go look for where you’ve put one. Maybe you don’t even have a torch. With phone screens getting bigger and brighter, some people use their as torches. But they’re not really properly bright enough as torches! On the bright side, many […]
[Update: Be warned, some apps from this catalogue may harm your N900] As a N900 user, you might be aware that although Ovi isn’t yet officially ready for the N900, you can still get buckets of apps via the app manager. [App Manager>Download>Refresh] With the app manager you can download lists of applications from predefined […]
