Nokia 703 Windows Phone?

| August 30, 2011 | 15 Replies

Like the Nokia 800 that appeared on a manufacturer list for a Windows Phone App, WPCentral notes that the Nokia 703 makes an early appearance on an app called “I’m a WP7″ that can collect user model data (it’s pretty cool, you can find WP7 users/developers around your area, and it’s surprisingly quite a lot. )

This is interesting as 7XX range puts it into the slightly more affordable region (though not quite the 5XX or 6XX that WP Tango may be aiming for). The SeaRay number is still unknown, but it has appeared along side Nokia 800. Likewise, Nokia SeaRay has appeared with a Nokia XXX (no, I think that’s just place holders for numbers). I’m not sure if network variants would mean different names/numbers.

Other numbers in the 7xx range are the new Symbian Belle Nokia 700 and Nokia 701.

I just hope they have offerings at each price range across all the carriers, be terrible if you had to switch carriers just to get the high end version.

LG -> OMNIA 7 ?!? Something not very clear in there.

Looks like some one been playing with device UID

And that is a very important point you raise.
In fact, tezawaly from nanapho.jp proved that you can rename your device to whatever you want and have it display on that list. He put his own name at the end of the device and posted a screenshot too.

For that reason, I don’t have any real confidence in the devices mentioned above.

So is Nokia just going to release the 600, 700, 701 with WP7 variants for the US? that would save some money on design/materials (like with the N9 searay)

They should really just sell devices and give us the option whether to install Meego/Symbian/WP7 on them that would be ideal

    • brainimpact says:

they wont minimum requirements Microsoft allow for WP7 are vastly different to what we sea on Symbian phones, some might look similar in design but thats only cosmetics they will be different underneath the hood.

      • stylinred says:

build it to min spec of the os that demands the most. charge for it, let ppl decide ;)

i imagine min specs for meego are closely matching to wp7

Thats a very good point Stylinred. . .

It may just work in a crazy kinda way, but I doubt it’d ever happen that way.

They should direct symbian/meego/Qt devices to traditionally strong symbian markets.
And WP7 ones to traditionally strong (or looking stronger) WM/WP markets.

wait for nokia windows phone announcement

to see how great or how stupid nokia can do with microsoft

  5. Sam says:

Is there any chance Nokia announces a WP7 device or two at IFA in a few days? Or are we looking at waiting all the way until Nokia World in late October (that would suck).

    • Jesse says:

There is always a chance! I hope they do, really wanting to get my little cousin a Wp7 device for school and prefer it to be a Nokia one
