Lumia 610 and Global Lumia 900 coming to MWC says Reuters.

Whilst this news isn’t exactly new to folks who have been following, it is even more believable given that Reuters have now picked it up.

http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/02/22/us-nokia-smartphones-idUSTRE81L0LW20120222

They mention that both the lower end Nokia Lumia 610 (unannounced) and a globabl version of the currently US only (and not yet available) Nokia Lumia 900.

What they don’t mention however is one we also know is coming (given Nokia’s recent teaser). The one in everyone’s seems to be the Nokia PureView (808), a camera smartphone that will shatter the dreams of the competitor devices trying to one-up the Nokia N8. Guys – Sammy, HTC, Sony, Apple, etc – Nokia gave you nearly two years to beat it (hardware announced from April 2010 remember?). Seems the only one that will properly unseat the Nokia, is quite rightfully, Nokia.

Cheers Momchil Karabulev/@chilko for the tip!

unless this “pure view” ad is for 900 with 12mp camera?

    • lala says:

that were great!..i like the wp 7,5 UI and feel..but the camera on the lumia800 sucks…:\..so if the 900 have such a cam like in the teaser…->buyed!

    • Marc says:

why would nokia 1st release the 900 specially for america with a 8mp cam and spend millions in marketing. then release a better version for the rest of the world? didnt they also say all the focus is on the US market?

      • nabkawe says:

although not sure and don’t care , but there’s talk about this camera being a whole new generation of EDOF which Americans just hate (no AF that is) …

  2. jody/buzzinga says:

for emotional sentiments sake, let it be symbian pls ;)

  3. SLAYER says:

hmm.. I wonder how the cheap 610 will compare to the cheap 603.

  4. Jim says:

I think pure view is just the technology name that will probably come in future nokia devices

  5. Danny says:

Symbian (Nokia 808) has more hype than Nokia Windows Phone!

  6. docer says:

My guess is that, whatever this pure view thing is, it is related with a WP. Because Lumia means snow, isn’t it? ;)

  7. Law says:

Gees if nokia could put the beast cam of the 808 on a global wp7 lumia 910, it will sell like crazy. The lumia 900 is a good enough competitor as it is. It just needs the super cam. The only major problem i guess is fitting it in their and having it no so fat lol

I have an itchy feeling that pure view is a name for advanced EDOF. This will address the size of camera modules and will allow proper high def video recording. Or maybe its a combination of EDOF tech and AF tech. I can only imagine

    • Jay Montano says:

EDoF. :o What a scary, scary thought. I did think that would be a funny joke if that was the case.

Having said that, it was a frequent topic of discussion that should EDoF reach macro depth, it would actually be alright. I wouldn’t want advanced EDoF though, and the video shows different depths of fields (one part has some bokeh).

I expect PureView to be something else. There is something very smart going on in Nokia’s cameras.

  9. Björn Linderborg says:

The new symbian pure view device will have around 40 MP. The purpose of 40 MP is not to shoot giant pics. Here it comes: The purpose is sort of a new improved digital zoom, truezoom. If you have 40 Megapixels and, and then make it zoom x4 it is still a scaled down 2.5MP picture with quite a lot of details and good quality. This way you don’t need an fragile optical zoom and devices can be kept thin and have good build quality.

Wow, the mighty capabilities of Symbian. If only Nokia would fully support symbian and windows phone then I would be very happy. The symbian one for me, windows phone for my brother. Hehe
