Big Boost in Compal Shipments thanks to Nokia?

Whilst it’s possible to extrapolate some good news from the fact that Nokia are looking to ship much more devices (this is their year to “ship in volume”) it is a concern by some that they’re doing (part of) it through Compal and not through their own factories. Well, one thing we do not know is the exact proportion that’s going through Compal, so it might still be heavily weighted on Nokia for the main production.

Compal shipments are apparently expected to increase 20% for Q1 due to Nokia Tango handsets. Now checking the Digitimes article that’s 20% up from the 1.5M shipments for Q4 2011? How much of that was Nokia? What precisely is Nokia’s proportion this time around? I’m hoping Nokia have significantly more in production at their own factories. I wouldn’t exactly be too pleased with those numbers.

Cheers mrprince for the tip!
