way better looking than i had expected.

  2. dss says:

What is he talking about ? Its as thick as the 920 ..

  3. Janne says:

Apparently this is with the thicker wireless charging shell? The recessed camera would sugges that.

    • Janne says:

Finally found pics of the 810 wireless charging backplates:

      http://reviews.cnet.com/2300-12261_7-10014093-6.html

Yes they can be swapped like on the 820, they are not some additional slip-on covers.

      • Janne says:

Oops, sorry. Those are cleary 820 covers.

        • Janne says:

Oops again, they are indeed 810 covers. They just include their own Carl Zeiss badge. I was confused about that. :)

So we can put it to rest, two types of covers for the 810. They are swappable like 820. The wireless charging version is thicker and has the recessed camera. The non-charging back cover is thinner and without recessed camera.

They are clearly not a slip-on cover.

          • Bloob says:

I would actually welcome a recessed camera, better protected, less flare.

          • Tony says:

I wonder if we can get confirmation on 2 different covers for the 810. I also wonder why they would showcase the phone for the first time with the thick covers. I hope the 810 ships with standard non charging covers. I hope you are right about 2 different covers. This pics would indicate so but I won’t feel comfortable unless I see some confirmation. I will be purchasing the 810 but would prefer the thinner cover.

  4. JGrove303 says:

Oh good, it has dual LED flash!

It looks so thick because it has one of the Wireless charging covers snapped on. See hiw sunken in the ceramic camera strip and flash are?

    It’ll sell very well.

  5. stylinred says:

that thig looks huge, thicker than the 808

  6. Izuan says:

I was looking through T-Mobile’s selection of phones. I think this will sell very well because it’ll be the best looking one of the bunch!

  7. Janne says:

    I found this quote:

“Might want to check the spec sheets before publishing this kind of post— compared to the 820, the 810 has:

-Bigger battery (1800 mAh v. 1650), hence the thickness
-HD wide-angle front-facing camera (vs. VGA)
    -Gorilla glass
    -Weighs 15g less

Clearly not just an aesthetic tweak. Also Nokia lists the 810’s thickness as 10.9mm, not 11.2.”

    • Bob says:

      Name misleading.

Should be 822. (i.e larger number due to greater specs)

    • ravneng says:

Bigger battery = thicker phone? Well then explain why the Samsung Ativ s is thinner than all the Nokia phones and it has a much better battery?

      • Dave says:

It’s relative. If device A is X mm with battery of size Y, then the same device A with a battery Z > Y will be, all else being equal, > X mm.

What device B does has nothing to do with it. If the S-Vita would come with a larger battery tomorrow, *all else being equal* it would also be thicker *than itself*.

But don’t let that get in way of another rant.

      • Bharat says:

That is because it has a bigger screen as well.keeping constant volume if you increase the area you can reduce the thickness. That was one of the reasons that Android oems keep increasing the size of the screen. They can put a larger battery without increasing the thickness too much. But battery consumption increases with increasing size so the battery performance only increases in cases where screen is not being used-calling and standby. Noobs!

    • JGrove303 says:

Well, that’s fine. This 810 is Nokia’s top contender on T-Mobile. When the SGS was released in the USA As the Mezmorise, Vibrant and Captivate, theu had diffetent NAND storage, different batteries, flash vs. no flash, etc. It does have a different model number after all.

  8. Mark says:

I really like this phone. I’m hoping there will be a slightly lighter 910 that I can get.

  9. weirdfisher says:

    the back looks cute

  10. et3rnal says:

Wonder why they are not allowed to turn it on ummm

does the final version of windows has any Nokia customisation they dont wont any1 to see?

    Its just so wearied

    • arts says:

well, people have been speculating that wp8 has certain part of the OS locked down, especially those that are turned on and handled by the media. So it could be a case of these 810 have the full version of the wp8 running.

Or you know, it could be some other reason.

    Nicely focused carpet. ;)
