Wow! Nokia N8 Rockchip Dual Core ARM 9 with Android 2.1 and 800X480 display. More than your ordinary China clone!

Last month we saw a Nokia N8 Clone sporting an Android Clone UI. Not really Android, just a skin that made it appear to look like Android. Well, back in August a picture of a Nokia N8 Clone was found, complete with Android 2.1 and Android buttons. More details surface from Yesky that says this […]

We’ve seen the China Clone N8 in many places, even before the actual official N8. Here’s the retail version of the N8 China Clone, set with die-quick replaceable battery. You’ll note that this N8 attempts to replicate an earlier build where the bottom of the N8 has now changed (wrist strap and pin-charger location moved). […]

What if Nokia were to buy Apple?

What if Nokia were to buy Apple?

| August 1, 2010 | Reply

In a world of Nokia that’s waiting for the Nokia N8 (and successors) while competitors continue to innovate and advance, I thought I’d take a rather tongue in cheek look at what might happen with future devices should Nokia as a company merge with some of those competitors. Note this is not meant to be […]

I was just about to have an early night when I saw @Camb078 tweet about a moto video. [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_rcrzSSj2lQ] Does the above video look familiar? Well if you’ve been following the N8 you’ll notice they have very similar video editors. Now, they aren’t exactly the same but the resemblance is striking to the point that […]

Aava Mobile MeeGo Demolishes iPhone iOS4 and Nexus One Android 2.2 in JavaScript Test

| July 8, 2010 | Reply

Ars Technica performed some JavaScript Benchark tests of Android 2.2 (on Nexus One) against iOS4 (on iPhone) which they said, “Demolishes iOS4″. Well as Chippy from UMPCPortal and CarryPad shows, MeeGo beats them both. The image above shows firefox on a netbook, 3936.2ms vs 4215.2ms on Aava mobile. From Ars Techica’s tests, iPhone with iOS4 […]

We’ve seen this Finnish phone before running Moblin and a Qt Interface to demo a possible MeeGo UI (or at least a reference design).  We saw it most recently demonstrating the new MeeGo handset UX on video. Chippy, aka Steve Paine of CarryPad has it for the next 48 hours! This is Aava Mobile (also […]

I don’t normally show case themes but I really like this Android theme for the Nokia N900. It doesn’t make your N900 appear like Android, but just picks of on hints of the design. It changes up the bookmark icons on the homescreen so the edges of the rectangles are rounded, plus the title bar […]

Here’s a quick video demo of Intel’s AppUp centre (store) on a Moorsetown running Aava Mobile handset. Aava Mobile demonstrated this phone earlier at CES, at that time running on Mobilin, later demoing Qt based UI, the framework for MeeGo. It appears however, Aava Mobile will instead be making an Android phone (not sure if […]

Not really a Nokia post, but an intriguing watch nonetheless. Basically how a modern mobile OS should feel and how the UI should look. Nokia touch phones are often more functional [aka plain/boring] when it comes to the UI. Only recently with the N900 have Nokia users experienced eye candy UI out of the box. […]

This is a video for the Nokia Zero: The new Nokia phone to rule them all. This post is meant to demonstrate the importance of having a “memorable product name”. This goes for services as well as devices. Here I’ve taken “Zero” as an example. The rest of the post after the video explains why […]
