Nokia Conversations postedup that the software update that was rumoured to come today, is in fact here. It will as usual be available in regions first.

To check for updates, either through Zune or direct from your phone via Settings>Phone update.

The update will appear over the next couple of weeks (starting today) where the phone is available. If you want to take a look at the update process, you can see what it would look like here: http://mynokiablog.com/2011/11/30/update-available-for-nokia-lumia-800-guide-of-the-new-update-process/

The update brings a number of performance and usability enhancements  including:

  • Charging improvements
  • Voicemail notification improvement
  • Replying to mail improved for Microsoft Exchange 2003 users
  • Improved display switching in bright light
  • Improved audio quality

Charging improvements? Is that for battery life?

There’s no sign here of WiFi Sharing which comes included anyway with the Mango update. Nokia said they were going to bring this in a software update. Perhaps this is coming in early 2012 as they note that, “a further update is planned for early 2012 to deliver more improvements to the software.”
